Draft @ the brewery. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma. Roasted malty chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty chocolate finish. ryanhunter_4 (330) - Strathmore, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 12, 2016
1 pt. 6 oz bottle poured at home after transporting from the brewery in San Diego. Pours black with a tan head that sticks around. For a chocolate stout, I didn’t get any chocolate at all. I got a touch of coffe and a similar smell that I get with my home brew, which I think is disinfectant. Tastes a hell of a lot better than my home brew however. Heavy on smoke and alcohol. Good beer but not what I was expecting or hoping for. Dodgers101 (6) - - JAN 21, 2016 does not count
Wow, last one in my flight at Helm’s. The aroma is pretty boozy but you can definitely smell the chocolate. The initial taste is boozy, but I kind of like that in an imperial stout. The chocolate has some bitterness but overall, really good. bulldogops (2726) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 1, 2016
Rating #1515 - 17.03.2015 On tap at Amplified Ale Works. Beautiful dark brown pour with a decent head that lasts. Aroma is rich cocoa, alcohol. Palate is more of the same, lots of burnt sugar sweetness, cocoa, and a lovely espresso bitterness, which complements or exacerbates the high alcohol. Pair with some rich flaky pastries and succumb to your sugar coma. Blairgus (4613) - California, USA - MAR 8, 2014
8 Mar 2014, tap at Helm's Brewing. Black. Nose is burnt toast crust and black coffee. Med body and mildly fizzy. Sugary, mocha coffee, hints of molasses, cold black coffee. Nice!

Very chocolatey. Can really taste the gharardelli chocolate. Dark pour. Very nice taste. brokensail (16633) - Dublin, California, USA - DEC 12, 2012
Pitch black pour with a very small tan head. Certainly lives up to its name as there is a lot of chocolate aroma. A decent amount of roast, some coffee, and mild vanilla. Notes of sweet dark fruit and a light booze note. The flavor is more impressive and really shows off the chocolate. Almost chocolate liqueur-like. Semi-sweet with some molasses and dark fruits. Good amount of roasted malt, some coffee, and a light alcohol warmth.
