A hazed dark amber ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with loads of raspberry jam, light acidity, light meaty notes, interesting. In mouth, sweet fruity malt with light vinous notes, treacle, light butterscotch, light bourbon barrel notes, alcohol warmth, very nice. Bottle at Chuck and April’s Cellar Tasting.

Clear dark amber with ring. Maple sugar cinnamon aroma with candy sugar aroma with fruity esters. Sweet maple syrup brown sugar. Spicy woody bitterness with some candy sugar. Medium-full sticky body. Very good. Somewhat bitter for style.

650 ml bottle purchased at Prost at the end of 2015. (The only vintage of this date) brown reddish color. Candy sugar and plums upfront. With yeast and raisin’s.

The yeast has good character and moderate alcohol warmth after the sip. I taste fig, plums and lots of sugar. The body is almost full with a lightly boozy warmth after the swallow without any harsh alcohol flavors. I know this style displays sweet sugary notes, but for my palate right now it is borderline cloying. For the style it is nicely crafted.

2016 bomber - Straight across the board this is a solid representation of a good quad. Pours a slightly murky amber with lasting, clingy lace of tan foam. Aroma is full of overripe fruits, candi sugar and some esters that aren’t exactly complementary. Flavor is excellent and delicious - dangerously, I can’t get enough - starting with a sweet, alcoholic blast of dark fruits, candi sugar, caramel, and anything else decadent of the cooked-sugar realm. Wow! Very smooth along the way, this could get me in all sorts of trouble!

Bottle thanks to AirForceHops shared at Anchorage tasting group Jun ’15: Poured a caramel brown with a white head. Aroma is full on dark fruit with a light wood hint. Taste is sticky dark fruit, cherry, boozy and yet had a very palate drying finish.

dark reddish orange. 1 finger head and fades to almost nothing. Aroma is a light bitterness, woody, some dark fruits. Really nice mouthfeel.Sweet overall. Cherry, peach, some other tropical fruits but just a little bit of booze. The bitterness is really intense. would be nice to revisit this in 2 years.

22 oz. bottle from The Beer Store. A shout out to Marc/Mel/Chris for saving a bottle until I could get there. Pours a ruby/coppery red tone, kind of hazy, with a short lasting white head. Sweet caramel malt aroma with hints of brown sugar, cherries, Belgian yeast and a whisper of the rum barrel it rested in. Flavor smacks of sweet malty goodness, with cherries, oak tannins and a hint of rum. Very nicely put together. All of Henniker’s beers have been good, but this is the best one yet.
