A light-bodied, aromatic, Irish-style specialty ale. Double-hopped with PAcific Northwest Cascade hops for the flavor and smoothness of a traditional ale without bitterness of heaviness.

Better than most grocery store beers. I had kind of expected a bit more oomph somewhere but it never showed up. An easy drinking brew anyhow.

falls into the general mediocrity of most henry’s stuff.

KingPinHead (390) - Des Moines, Washington, USA - JUL 9, 2002
Attractive medium gold color and surprisingly strong head for a macro. Aroma neither here nor there, but not objectionable by any means. Flavor is fairly well-balanced between hops and malt and keeps both relatively light. This product doesn’t try to make a loud statement--a smart approach for a mass-marketed offering. Nothing outstanding here, but very drinkable--quite possibly the best of the Henry Weinhard’s line-up.

Worse than the Private Reserve - alot more vegetal and skunky aromas and flavors. The bitter flavors just don’t work in this beer - its not clean crisp bitter tasting, but like I said, skunky bitter.

This beer is a lot better than their amber, however it is nothing special. Good beer if you don’t have much money and you don’t want to get sick on the really cheap shit.

I Really like this ale, it has a clean and fresh taste, its not too strong on the finishing side either, I’ll keep quite a few of these in the fridge...

This is by far the best macro beer available.

UPDATED: JUL 19, 2005 A good brew, especially when price is factored in. Drink this and people may think you’re high class while in college. Nothing really special here, but it’s solid.

greystreet80 (191) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAR 28, 2002
Very disapointing. Henry Weinhards Private Reserve is very good, but the pale ale is horrid.

maxhits (172) - Pico Rivera, California, USA - MAR 25, 2002
Pours with a slightly hazy gold color and produces a thick head of foam that is fairly long-lived. Flavor is fairly straight-forward with a good malt body and a small amount of sweetness.
