Worse than the Private Reserve - alot more vegetal and skunky aromas and flavors. The bitter flavors just don't work in this beer - its not clean crisp bitter tasting, but like I said, skunky bitter.

More akin to an American standard, Blue Boar is pale gold and exudes a slightly sweet aroma. This beer definitely reminds us that Henry's is a macro brewer--as it is bland tasting and lacking character, though smooth.

Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain, light bread), lightly hoppy (flowers, lemon), with a note of DMS. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter, slightly unclean. Light to medium body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation, metallic. Plenty of DMS and an unclean flavor, letting you know this has been micturated upon by an evil giant.

Comes in a clear-green bottle -- that should’ve been a red flag for me. Pours to a golden-yellow with hardly any smell. A tad bit more flavor than say, Miller High Life -- not great. Lightly skunky aftertaste; not good at all. I would’ve rather bought the High Life and saved a buck.

Thanks to ghawner. Drank it at a beer session last nite. Truly forgettable beer. Very watery and tasteless.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2006 Very clear and pale yellow ... headless. Corny nose. Thin and watery texture. Malts were reminiscent of wet bread with honey and a little DMS on top. Ripe apple notes were nice, albeit subdued. No head, but rather carbonated mouthfeel ... a little chewy, too. Finish was dry and relatively lifeless. A few seconds later, in the aftertaste, some bitterness (with a hint of toast) surfaced. Not quite enough to balance things out, though. Yawn.

This one isn’t bad for a cheap pale ale. It is just a hoppier version of the rest of the Miller line. Miller just does not make a good beer. I would not buy this unless I was forced to, but I will drink it at a part for free.

When first starting with beer, this became my favorite. Now, I cannot stomache it. The term ’skunky’ I’ve seen surely fits the smell. It makes you want to turn your head. Not much flavor here, but the extra carbonation hides that a bit. It’s a little hoppy, with the taste of corn. Not one I’d ever buy again.
