Amber Ales are mostly an American invention. And with its beautiful copper color and subtle hop aroma, our Redwood Flats Amber is our traditional take on a modern American classic. Featuring a unique blend of American hops and malts, Redwood Flats Amber is bold and assertive, with a strongly hoppy flavor that’s easy to drink and even easier to love.

Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits, Betton - 12 oz bottle. Medium copper pour, quickly fading off-white head. Pretty much of a neutral aroma, very brief nutty notes. Smooth flavor, hints of nuts, very light vanilla, some light citrus. Nice session material. Crisp, clean mouthfeel.

Amber to copper in color. Moderate sized beige head that settles to a thinner, dense lid of bubbles. Dark caramel, light floral and licorice, and hints of mint and earth. Simple sweet caramel flavors mixed with bread and rosemary. An amber and everyone knows how I like ambers. 4/13

Backlog rating on 10-18-2012 (Bottle) This beer’s appearance is a medium sized smooth ivory head with a short retention, transparent golden body, slow rising carbonation, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, hops and a suggestion of fruit. The flavor is caramel malt, lightly hoppy and bitter with a semi-dry finish. This beer is light-medium. This beer lacks character and flavor and I did not acquire a "strongly hoppy flavor" as mentioned in the Commercial Description of this beer. This is a beer that I do not recommend and have no desire to drink again.

"Simple and slick, dark orange red. Nice enough aroma of citrusy hops and light caramel. Flavor is the same but pretty subdued. An easy drinking beer while watching football but nuthin special."

Pours a hazy brownish amber with a light malt aroma. Taste is sweet with a little bitter offset. Mouthfeel is creamy. A little too sweet ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reviewed from notes. This one pours a decent looking hazy amber color with a half finger white foamy head. The lacing is really light. The smell had some burnt caramel malts. It seemed really light on the hops. The taste was kinda bland as the malts didn’t carry much excitable sweetness. There was an extremely dry finish. On the palate, this one sits about a light to medium in body and has a semi-sessionable aspect to it. The carbonation seemed fairly smooth. Overall, this was just an average Amber ale to me.

Bottle. Slightly cloudy, orangish pour. Very nice caramel nose. Off white head dies quickly but leaves spotted lacing on the glass. Surprisingly watery mouth-feel. Nowhere near as hoppy as I expected (or as they advertised!). Quick finish. Not too shabby overall, but certainly some room for improvement.

ContemplateBeer (2097) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - APR 4, 2014
Aroma: Mostly bread with a little caramel sweetness; hop presence is almost entirely muted. Appearance: Watery copper pour with a patch of white head that dissipates into a very small patch. Flavor: More caramel than bread; has a very lean and muted feel; hops missed the bus. Palate: Light body, slick texture, average carbonation, astringent finish. Overall: Not a particularly memorable beer; there are so many better ambers out there.

Malt, sweet taste. Not what I expected from the looks of it but it wasn’t too bad. Would like to try more Weinhards brews.

bottle - Amber pour, caramel and grainy malt aroma... the flavor is mostly sweet with caramel and bready character. The hops are quite mild. It’s strange to see the commercial description read "strongly hoppy". Certainly not. It’s not bad.

Strykzone (7797) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - DEC 24, 2013
12 ounce bottle. Just saw this is from Oregon and hope it was not from Hayduke for a bottle share. It is already open! A little haze in the amber beer. A smallish beige head and active carbonation. A sweet malty aroma. The flavor has those malts along with some hops that are a bit off. The hops are floral and not at all big. There is some bread, cereal grains, and yeast along with honeysuckle.
