Originally developed for British sailors stationed in India, IPAs were aggressively hopped to help prevent spoilage on long ocean voyages. Now that spoilage isn’t as big a problem, we’ve eased up on the hoppiness just a hair to let the caramel malts shine through. It’s a big beer with big flavor that really lets you appreciate hops in all their glory.

A slight floral hops aroma with a very normal lager flavor not in the hoppy character of an IPA overall very basic.

Not really many flavors and none characteristic of an IPA. I wouldn’t buy this again.

Bottle - average gold with a foamy head that went away quickly. Skunky aroma and a metallic taste. I thought I bought an IPA but this certainly tastes like your typical mexican lager. Fail.

Long Island, NY - 12 oz. bottle poured a copper color with little head and slight lacing. Aroma is a little hops and a soapy scent. Taste is very lager like, more malty than hoppy. There is a hint of bitterness but not like a pale should be. Aftertaste is soapy and not inviting for another sip. Not recommended. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

My first Henry Weinard’s beer. This is a little different than the IPA’s than what i consider my faves, but i like the hoppiness. It makes me feel like im on a Pegasus.

Bottle. Honey, barley malt, and orange peel aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Sweet orange malt and lightly bitter orange peel flavor. Medium body. I seem to remember Henry Weinhard beers were a whole lot better in the mid 90s - most likely because they beat most of the crap available back then.

kramer (6905) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 15, 2013
Bottle. Pours a clear orangish gold body with a minimal fizzy white head that vanished pretty quickly. The nose is too light on the hops to truly be considered an IPA, but I guess that’s what they call it. Light floral hops is all that I’m getting from this with a bland caramel malt base. The flavor is lacking in bitterness, the hops that are there are mostly floral tasting and don’t do much to snazz up the flavor profile. Bland and boring toasted and caramel maltiness below. Finishes rather limp and meek with some slight graininess. Light bodied with fizzy carbonation and a watery texture. This one was pretty boring.
