I remember first trying HW during a visit to Seattle many years ago, in the dawning days of the craft brew movement. I liked it a lot, and wished it was available in the Northeast. Now it looks like HW has been surpassed by a number of other breweries, but it should be remembered that they were one of the earlier participants in the movement. I am surprised this gets a low ranking - it is not bad at all. A mellow and tasty IPA, not very aromatic, lightly herbaceous and piney, and contains a dollop of sugary sweetness. A really good soft IPA. porkdiggity (109) - Ohio, USA - NOV 8, 2012
Nice copper color, but that's about the best part of it. Nose isn't too hoppy, though they come out a fair amount in the flavor. The flavor has bitterness, but it doesn't really have a good full flavor. Run of the mill IPA, nothing to write home about.

ampled at the supermarket, glad I never payed for it. yellow pour with a thin white head. Tme malt aroma was more prominent than hops. The flavor was watery. Very limited hop flavor. barncatmatt (2355) - Cambridge, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 5, 2012
355ml bottle from wegmans in niagara falls. golden with a small white head. minimal c hop and lager malt nose. flavour is also minimal, some late hop flavour, rough husky malt finish, no hop bitterness. really weak IPA. AR (1002) - Georgia, USA - NOV 4, 2012
Full flavored IPA. There is a bit of a malt base underneath a hop-flavored beer. Decent IPA that has a good blend to it.

Comes out of the tap a hazy golden amber with a pale golden-buff head - didn’t get much of a head, but that apparently is an artifact of the pour, and it leaves generous lacing. Aroma is hoppy and fruity, mainly apple with a little banana, not spectacular or strong but still inviting. Strongly hoppy flavor is somewhat bitter with woody and fruity notes. Texture has plenty of fizz and sass though just average body. Not the best IPA I have ever had, but certainly worth at least a try. heemer77 (5361) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - NOV 3, 2012
A clear amber brew with a thin white head. The nose is sweet apples and leather. There is also some musk and flowers. The taste is like light grapefruit and peanuts. There is also plenty of wood and caramel. Bits of spice in the finish. A light and boring IPA. llcooldave (1226) - San Antonio, Texas, USA - NOV 3, 2012
Dark honey in color. Slight sweet floral aroma. Clean tasting sweet toasty malt flavor with a nice faint citrus rind flavor. Overall, its a tasty brew but probably should be a pale ale as a result of the muted hops presence. thegreenrooster (4626) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 3, 2012
Pour is a golden with a average whtie head. Aroma is mild hops and not much else. Flavor is about the same. A very minor hop with no real malts making an appearace. Poor effort, this is unlike a IPA in just about every way.
