COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally developed for British sailors stationed in India, IPAs were aggressively hopped to help prevent spoilage on long ocean voyages. Now that spoilage isn’t as big a problem, we’ve eased up on the hoppiness just a hair to let the caramel malts shine through. It’s a big beer with big flavor that really lets you appreciate hops in all their glory.

Clean IPA, though it lacks depth. Hops are pleasant but a bit one-dimensional and could use more aromatics. Malts are light, bready and cracker-like. Bitterness is mild to moderate and balanced. Finish is dryish and underwhelming. Overall, it’s a very affordable and easy-drinking IPA, but it’s vapid.

ditmier (1508) - Boise, Idaho, USA - SEP 14, 2008
2008 Bottle - Honestly one of the best big batch IPA’s I’ve had...pours gold with a moderate white head...bright aroma of citrus, flavour is hop forward and lightly malted, very dry...way more enjoyable than I expected..

12 oz bottle. Very little aroma, some hops and malt. I was very pleasantly surprised by the strong hop flavor of this brew, however. Some citrus notes, with a crisp finish. A very drinkable IPA.

355 ml bottle. Clear golden body with a white head. Weak hoppy aroma with a hint of citrus. Flavor is balanced and nice, but not particular hoppy. Imagine a traditionally British IPA hop level, but with American hops.

Clear, pale yellow and fizzy with a 2 inch head. Rolling continuous carbonation within. Looks very attractive for a pale yellow brew. Dirty hop aroma. Medium hop bite, much less than I expected for an IPA. Perhaps this more like a strong APA instead of an IPA. Possibly a good intro IPA for a lager lover. However, finish is sufficiently lingering and bitter annoying to be an IPA.

Amber colored. Aroma is light butteryness with some citric hops. Medium to light bodied, moderate to low bitterness. Pretty bland.

Bier brauen (246) - Bremerton, Washington, USA - JUL 5, 2008
The best thing this beer has going for it is it’s appearance. It’s a nice clear golden color. The head leaves some lacing down the side of the glass. Other than that, I’d rather have a MOR lawmower lager thirst quencher. With today’s heightened beer prices, I had to give it a try.

3fourths (9341) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 14, 2008
Bottle. Light and simple, as expected. Nose has a definite buttered corn note to go with clean malt and medium grassy hop presence. Brisk and grassy hops but pale and simple throughout. Lightly drying, simple but flavorful green hops, but lacks any sort of juiciness or freshness, rather it’s dried grass and pale malt. Simple, uninspired, par for the course for HW, but overall it’s drinkable and pleasent.
