COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally developed for British sailors stationed in India, IPAs were aggressively hopped to help prevent spoilage on long ocean voyages. Now that spoilage isn’t as big a problem, we’ve eased up on the hoppiness just a hair to let the caramel malts shine through. It’s a big beer with big flavor that really lets you appreciate hops in all their glory.

British malty backbone. Clear amber orange in color, feels more like a pale than an iPa. The hops are nice, just too mellow and not enough of them in there to come out on top o the malt."

shrubber85 (11408) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - JAN 16, 2013
Bottle. Honey, barley malt, and orange peel aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Sweet orange malt and lightly bitter orange peel flavor. Medium body. I seem to remember Henry Weinhard beers were a whole lot better in the mid 90s - most likely because they beat most of the crap available back then.

hopscotch (11113) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - APR 13, 2014
Bottle... Clear, brilliant, amber pour with a small, wispy, white head. Good retention. Restrained bouquet - tough to figure out - caramel and cereal grains? Full-bodied and harsh with average carbonation. The flavor is all about acrid, acutely bitter hops. Lengthy, violently bitter, astringent finish. This beer’s hop bill was not well-chosen. Almost medicinal. Brewed cleanly, but not pleasant.

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours clear dark straw with 2-finger frothy off-white head. Nose is resiny hops, tannins, mild fruit. Tastes of hops, mild ale and bitter malt and hop profile, and a pilsy, somewhat watery finish. OK, but not great.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of jcnielsen. Thanks Jetson! Pours a hazy burnt orange appearance with an off white head. Earthy, herbal, woody, grassy hoppy, biscuity aroma. A bit tangy, lightly fruity, chewy cracker, pale malty, herbal, grassy flavor. Bleh.

BVery (10510) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - DEC 21, 2013
UPDATED: DEC 23, 2013 Bottle. Light orange pour with a white head. Pale caramel malt and stale hops on the nose. Lighter palate that is somewhat crisp. Pretty much a letdown.

marcus (10231) - Sacramento, California, USA - AUG 7, 2012
Pours amber with a decent beige head and a fruit and toffee flavor. A bit roasty too.
