COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally developed for British sailors stationed in India, IPAs were aggressively hopped to help prevent spoilage on long ocean voyages. Now that spoilage isn’t as big a problem, we’ve eased up on the hoppiness just a hair to let the caramel malts shine through. It’s a big beer with big flavor that really lets you appreciate hops in all their glory.

PorterPounder (7970) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - OCT 20, 2012
Wilmington Island, Ga - Kroger Supermarket - 12 oz bottle. Light copper pour, thin white head. Aroma is pretty much neutral, faint metallic industrial aromas. Flavor is standard budget IPA, some nuttiness, a bit of hard candy sweetness. some breadiness, a faint trace of citrus bitterness. Mouthfeel is thick enough, Not writing home about this one.

FROTHINGSLOSH (7796) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 15, 2012
Sampled on draft at the Rivertowne Pub this beer poured a dark amber color with a medium sized foamy beige head that left decent lacing. The aroma was faintly bitter with light pine and grapefruit. The flavor was tangy and bitter with notes of lemon, pine-sol, Windex, perfume, musk and an off presence. Long bitter finish of Pine Sol, Windex and perfume. Medium body. Not good.

BuckeyeBoy (7680) - Boise, Idaho, USA - APR 11, 2008
12oz Bottle Pours out a goldish orange. Topped with an off white cream head. A light soap hop aroma. Tast of pretty good hops. Not much bitterness on this one. A little of the cardboard tast at the end. I think this is the best Henry brew I have had.

Sledutah (7534) - Utah, USA - OCT 25, 2012
12oz bottle picked up at Discount Liquors
Appearance: Pours clear golden with a small white head and spotty lacing
Aroma: Earthy hops, caramel, bready and citrus
Taste: Caramel, bready, herbal with bitter citrus finish
OK, but wouldn’t bother searching this one out.

Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 30, 2012
Bottled. Poured clear, bright golden with a short white head. The aroma picked up sweet honey and caramel malts with just a little resiny pine and citrus hops coming through.. quite malty and not that interesting. The flavor found sweet caramel and biscuity malts at the core, with fruity hops joining spicy pine and earthy notes around.. more peppery on the finish. Light-medium bodied and spicy on the palate with some prickly carbonation.. a tad metallic on the middle and back.. overall an OK brew.

AmEricanbrew (6878) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - DEC 17, 2012
Brilliant dark gold cold with ivory head . Faint pine, floral, vegetal hop aromas. Mildly hoppy, lightly bitter pine, floral flavors on a grainy pale malt base brew--better than no ipa

wlajwl (6812) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - OCT 4, 2012
Aroma is grassy hops and what can’t be described as anything other than water. The flavor is mild citrus/grapefruit, fruit and a mildly bitter finish.

Braudog (6716) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - OCT 20, 2013
Bottle. Very light golden color on this, delivers a decent little fuzzy head. Light and pleasantly quaffable, comes off with a bit more of a malty character than you’d expect for the label, bit starchy, too perhaps. Decent center of the scale pale ale. (#5298, 10/19/2013)

kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 15, 2013
Bottle. Pours a clear orangish gold body with a minimal fizzy white head that vanished pretty quickly. The nose is too light on the hops to truly be considered an IPA, but I guess that’s what they call it. Light floral hops is all that I’m getting from this with a bland caramel malt base. The flavor is lacking in bitterness, the hops that are there are mostly floral tasting and don’t do much to snazz up the flavor profile. Bland and boring toasted and caramel maltiness below. Finishes rather limp and meek with some slight graininess. Light bodied with fizzy carbonation and a watery texture. This one was pretty boring.
