This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a semi-rugged dark copper almost brown color with a quickly dissipating half finger’s worth of white foamy head. Light spotty lace.
The aroma had some black cherries, light toffee, some caramel, burnt toast, grassy hops and a light cereal/grainy sweetness at the end.
The flavor seemed to center around the previously mentioned aromas fairly sweet with a touch of some herbal quality coming in right before the aftertaste and then sliding into the finish, light sort of leathery tone here.
The feel was alright, a bit more prickly carbonation hitting than expected. Sweetness seemed controlled fairly nice by this. ABV felt under as projected by the brewer (this was had fairly fresh at the time).

Bottle. Sweet maple and cardboard aroma with an alcoholic bite. Flavor was way too sweet, full bodied, and accompanied by some vegetable and seed flavors. This is a very poorly blended beer and a poorly made barley wine. BDR (2534) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - MAR 27, 2008

Sampled on draft at the Cranberry PA location this beer poured a rich red-amber color with a small khaki head. The aroma was light sweet fruity hops. The flavor was lightly sweet and a bit syrupy with light malts and a hint of fruity hops. The finish was short and bland. The mouthfeel was only moderately thick. Rather a disappointment for this style.

Picked up a single 22-oz, 2005 vintage bomber from Hereford & Hops in Wausau, Wisconsin. Shared and sampled at Cellar’s WIne & Spirits weekly beer tasting in St Paul, MN. Pours a hazy orange/brown amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that leaves behind a fine film top. Aroma of powdered dark caramel malt, brown sugar, plums, tart cherries, and a little herbal spice. Taste is medium to full bodied, light carbonation with flavors of chalky semi-sweet caramel malt, brown sugar, cherries, and some dried dark pitted fruits. Finish is smooth, creamy with a slight cherry and caramel aftertaste. The two years of aging has done some good to this aged barley wine. 2005 Vintage; Bottle. Many thanks to Skyview for this one. Murky brown color with no head. Powerful aroma of brown sugar and spiced malt. Great flavors of plum, cherry and dark fruits. Brown sugar and a strong sweet malt. Finished off with just a bit of oak and vanilla. Killer. Based on the ratings, this one obviously needs to sit for a year or two. On draft at Cranberry location. Pours orange/amber with a sweet malty nose mingling with some alcohol. A lot of caramel and sweetness initially, but ends with some bitter alcohol. I with they would do this unfiltered, because I tried it as such and I liked it better.
