I would say this was the best of the bunch that I tried at the H and H in cranberry, pa. Poured dark brown/black color. Aroma roasted malts, caramel, and sweet toffee molases. Flavor is light and smooth yet roasted and sweet. Overall, went well with dark meat. gws57 (1276) - Saint Charles, Illinois, USA - FEB 22, 2007
Got this one at the restaurant in Wausau, Wisconsin. Outstanding example. Very dark brown, clear pour with a thin head, raspberries, chocolate, coffee, orange, soy sauce, throughout. This is one complex brew. Love it. dpjuart (1112) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 28, 2007
12/27/07 - Winter Road Trip ’07 - Draft sample at brewpub. Pours black w/ red hues, off white/coffee-colored head. Chocolate and coffee nose w/ slight smokiness. Creamy mouthfeel w/ coffee and chocolate, sweet finish, malty. No discernable hops. Smokiness is there, but subdued. Rather watery, but good. satan165 (1020) - River Grove, Illinois, USA - JAN 29, 2010
draft, room temp glass (finally, i had to cause a scene to earn one). infected H&H strawberry aroma - one of the only beers that presents inside the aroma as well as flavor. flavor is well balanced (haha) well developed roast and rubber strawberries. quite offensive combination. opaque body, coca cola edges, lingering initially filthy head and good lacing. soft, lush mouthfeel. roast disappears as strawberry overwhelms palate. small victory to finish a pint of this infected bastard. Interesting beer that taste a lot like soda (or as they call it in these parts, pop). not bad, but nothing overly good.

Tried on tap at Cranberry location. Poured VERY dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of smoked wood, caramel and chocolate. The nose prepares you for the taste of thick caramel and bitter chocolates. There is a mild smoke flavor, but it is nicely balanced. Finishes dry. jewedekind (450) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 5, 2004
large, smoky, dry lager. Deep brown (not black)with a slight white head. Huge malt character in nose and flavor. Nice lingering dry finish. Nice job. DragonsHead (142) - Morgantown, West Virginia, USA - FEB 3, 2008
Had this beer on draft at their newest brewpub in Cranberry PA. Stylistically, this is the best schwarz I’ve ever had. Although, it is a very hard to find style of beer. Poured a dark brown with light tan head. Very small lacing. Wonderful toffee and caramell aroma followed with the same taste. Great beer with a smooth finish. maxwellplum (54) - USA - NOV 15, 2004
It goes down good, before the grill, during the grill, and well after the grill. Nice mix of hops and malt. It just goes down good.
