It goes down good, before the grill, during the grill, and well after the grill. Nice mix of hops and malt. It just goes down good.

A very nice and toasty schwarzbier. Aroma was ok. A nice blend of roasted malt and a hint of coffee. Pour was a nice deep dark brown with a pinky sized near tan head. Taste was a little thin in the front but all roasted malt and coffee in the middle and aftertaste. The finish didn’t carry it through, but had a nice warm toasted malt backbone. Not bad.

On tap. Chocolatey with toasted grain notes and mild coffee. A bit of fruity hops. Smells quite a bit like a porter. Dark brown-black clear with a thin tan head. Medium body with light carbonation. Starts with some mild DMS, Twizzlers, and mild coffee grainy character. Papery stale hoppiness with light tangy finish. Very little bittrness. Could be drier.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear very dark brown with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has sweet dark grains with a hint of roast supporting. Flavor begins with dark grains, has light roast and an odd light fruit finish.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2007 On tap at the H&H in Cranberry township PA near Pittsburgh. As you’d expect a dark rather opague brew. However, held against the sunlight I can see an ever so dim shade of reddish brown in there. Aroma of coffee and raostyness is ever apparent and preasant. Tannish head fades to a ring around the edge of the glass. All that remains is a froth on top. Oh yes, your schwartzbeer flavors are there. I think this may taste better than some of the other schartzbeers I’ve had from the bottle. A little bitterness in there that lets you know it has personality, but it is not offensive. The finish does have a linger hang that lasts for a while, but again it is not terribly offensive. Easy to enjoy dark beer. Good example of a dark beer. Tastes quite abit like their stout.

draft, room temp glass (finally, i had to cause a scene to earn one). infected H&H strawberry aroma - one of the only beers that presents inside the aroma as well as flavor. flavor is well balanced (haha) well developed roast and rubber strawberries. quite offensive combination. opaque body, coca cola edges, lingering initially filthy head and good lacing. soft, lush mouthfeel. roast disappears as strawberry overwhelms palate. small victory to finish a pint of this infected bastard.

Keg at the brewpub. Near black, ruby highlights. Moderate creamy tan head, decent retention. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, coffee. Taste is roast and coffee. Thin, almost still.
