COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Evil Cousin is Heretic’s take on a West coast imperial IPA. This beer is a bold, in-your-face hop monster. It has a light, easy drinking malt character that allows the hops to stand out. The hop character in this beer is intentionally on the dank side; big, sticky, and aggressive. This beer is for those of you who can’t get enough hops. Join us on the dank side.

Pours a crisp golden color with a white head. Hop, caramel, citrus and pine aroma. Hop, pine, citrus, caramel, honey and malt flavors. Medium body and carbonation. Bitter with a hoppy finish.

Hops evident in the aroma at first pour, and then come on full strength at first taste. Hazy amber body with small silky head. Hoppy astringent aroma, taste of pine sol, caramel, slick mouth feel.

Bottle from CraftShack - received on 2/19/2014, bottle on 6/24/2013. Ridiculous! Last time I order an IPA from them. I was very excited to try a Jamil commercially brewed beer after brewing many of his homebrew recipes. This was not a representative example. I’m giving this a 3.0 for now until I taste a fresh one. I know this is better than what I’m drinking right now.

Poured from bomber, picked up at the brewery yesterday. Somewhat clear golden with a medium white head. Nose is mostly citrus, not too strong, with a bit of caramel. Smooth well balanced taste, not as strong as some of my favorite doubles, but rather good. Medium bodied with a nice bitter finish.

Aroma is rotted hop vines, earthy and funky, DANK. Bright orange-copper pour. The taste is nice and smooth, earthy hops, supressed malt and good spice at the end. The aroma is wild man, cannot get my nose around it, love it.

Fresh bottle from West Coast trade. Pours clear orange with nice frothy white head. Aroma is floral, oranges. Taste is sweet citrus fruit and resin. Malt rounds it out. If you are a Pliny fan, you are now a Heretic EC fan. Sticky and sweet. Can’t wait to find more.

Pour is clear golden with a medium white head. Aroma and flavor is of peaches, tropical fruit, pine, herbs, orange peel, and earth. A little on the malty side for a DIPA. Hop and resin on the finish.

Intense nose on this one, puneant guava scent, its amazing, the flavor is good, lots of centennial.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2014 Bottle. Pours clear gold with white head. Aroma had a big centennial aroma herbal, grassy. Flavors are grassy, mint, green, bitterness is very clean, dry, some sweetness but really solid and well executed. Fermentation is flawless. You can really tell pliney inspired Jamil with this one.

Fresh bottle from reputable Carlsblad store, noticed later it was a bit over 6 months old from bottling. It was drinkable and hoppy, but something a tad weak.
