2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
In short: A under-malted and over-hopped abrasive piney and grassy golden IPA. Hard to drink
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed relatively fresh a few weeks after receiving it from oakbluff, thanks a lot Scott
The look: Clear golden body topped by medium off-white head quickly dissipating to a small persistent layer of foam
In long: Nose is rather piney but also with plenty of dry grass with a spicy twist. Taste has elusive malts, light body, residual sugars without backbone. Balance is obviously not the goal here. Hop profile was like a hefty dose of chinook-like high alpha acid sandy piney hops with also a whole lot of Saaz-like dry grassy hope with a spicy edge. I’m almost certain no Saaz went into this American IPA but that’s what it tasted like. There was also a soapy edge I could have done without. Very looooonnnnnggggg after-taste. This beer didn’t work for me, abrasive, not refreshing, hard to drink despite the light body, couldn’t take big sips without making faces. I was very much disappointed by this one, and it is the all those disappointments caused by all the boring beers I buy that drove me into drinking, and that makes perfect sense to me.
Cloudy and limited bubbles. Light gold oatmeal color. Sweet followed by tangy. Some creamy full mouth taste. Tangy lasting on edge of tongue. Little sharp initially but turns into very nice IPA. Enjoyable

Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. -Total Wine & more - 12 oz can. Pours a slightly sparkling light golden. Light, sticky off-white head that clings to the edge of the glass. Aroma has some sweet doughy accents, some piney essence. Flavor is full-bodied with plenty of fresh hoppy grapefruity goodness with some maple syrup and passion fruit thrown in there for good measure. Sweet doughy accents in the back end with a hint of vanilla. Sticky thick mouthfeel. Very solid. Iznogud (4070) - CROATIA - SEP 17, 2017

Can at home. Clear orangey with a white head, ok lacings. Aroma heavy malty (caramel) and hoppy (citrusy, piney). Flavor medium sweet, heavy bitter, long lasting. Medium+ body. beer-yum (1866) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - JUL 19, 2017
Restrained aroma in a golden pour. Hop forward balance with a rstrained fruity body but a big sustained bitter finish. An interesting variation on the style - and pretty much a benchmark of it. japancottrer (17) - JAPAN - JUL 12, 2017

It's hard to believe, but this diabolical little beer had me speaking in tongues!
To start, Evil Cousin checked all of the right boxes for a solid,well-delivered IPA. It poured the color of burnt umber, albeit of a palish hue, and had a well-formed head that didn't quickly dissipated.
The nose possessed citrus and pine, and I could detect notes of caramel too.
The soft carbonation and silky texture were two surprises, but not the taste of citrus and caramel, much like the nose . A boozy, alcohol finish gave warning of its high alcohol content, but left me feeling refreshed.
