This blood-red ale may not be what you might expect from a malty and hoppy craft beer. Evil Twin has a rich malt character, without being overly sweet. It has a huge hop character, without being overly bitter. It is a great example of a bold, rich, balanced craft beer, without being heavy and hard to drink in quantity. Our Evil Twin is only bad because it is too good to resist.

Was looking forward to this one. Very dark red, ruby highlights bring it short of brown. Nose is rich hoppy with some malty tones - hinting the devil is in the flavour. Flavour is more powerful than the aroma. Soft, light, but rich maltiness. Huge piney hop character, classic US IPA hop profile on the malt backbone. Lovely mouthfeel with moderately assertive bitterness. Light sweetness from the crystal malts follow through nicely on the finish, but the beer is still quaffable and nowhere near cloying (more than expected after reading the label). Great beer - will be brewing Jamils recipe.

Deep red with light brown head. Really nice rich malty (bread, dough, caramel) and grassy hop aroma and some ripe fruit aroma as well. The taste is quite bitter with grassy hop notes and has a surprisingly strong roasted malt flavor (burnt toast). Light sweetness. A bit light bodied for such a full tasting beer. I really like it though!

Can: The aroma consists of mild caramel, pine, and a touch of fruit. It pours a brownish-amber with a small beige head that fades a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. There is some thin webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with mild caramel and fruit. The finish has light pine and a touch of florals. Its medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation.

650ml bottle. Pours a hazy dark red with a medium, frothy, long lasting, beige head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, roast, pine and orange. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, caramel, bread, orange and pine with a dry, bitter, hop resin finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Nicely done.

Can 355ml.
