750ml bottle. 4/3/15 production date. Appearance: Deep brown/ black and opaque, with a light brown, thick bubbled foam cap.
Aroma: Light roasted coffee, chocolate, with a light touch of fruitiness
Taste: Rich malt sweetness, light roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel, and toast.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body, with moderately low carbonation.
Finish: lingering roast and bitterness, but very smooth and pleasant
Overall: A very smooth and roasty American Porter. Strong, flavorful malt showcase without any harsh or acrid flavor. Well done.

[ As Heretic Shallow Grave Porter ].
Clear dark black brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, sweet chocolate, bitter coffee. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, chocolate sweet, roasted - coffe bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
Draught at Keyaki. Average porter with a dark chocolate profile, some burnt malt, bitter finish. Not too impressive, just another porter really.

Nice, smoky porter. A Texan bbq in beer form. Aroma is lacking, which is a real shame. katrinaez (1894) - norristown, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 4, 2015

BOD 3/2/15. Pours dark as a starless night. Slightly below normal head volume and retention, normal lacing.
Light nose of roast and cocoa.
Medium body with a texture that is quite smooth and has strong creamy notes. Excellent carbonation with a mild burst of effervescence from the middle on.
The very nice flavor profile is reasonably intense, a bit complex and superbly balanced. It begins with a mild blend of roast and cocoa. Chocolate is hinted at, at best. The middle brings a mild balancing hop bitterness with a hint of sweetness. The finish is a slow fade of hop and roast bitterness. This offering is certainly not bad, it is quite good actually, but lacks the flavor intensity and complexity of world class porters such as Victory at Sea or an outstanding one such as Founders. drsordr (2630) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - MAY 23, 2015
Draft to taster at Thirsty Monk pour opaque black with moderate tan head. Nose light roast and chocolate. Taste some dark fruit then roasted malt. Light chocolate flavors mid to late. A little muted compared to others in my flight.
