A tartuffe (tar-TOOF) is a hypocrite who feigns religious virtue. Heretic’s Tartuffe is our take on a Berliner Weisse-style ale. Our head brewer has a thing for this beer style. He loves the tart, refreshing character that comes from using lots of wheat malt and a multi-day sour mash. Try it by itself or mit schuss, the traditional German addition of raspberry or woodruff syrup. Either way, enjoying life is a true virtue.

Clear pale gold body with no head. Citrus on the aroma and in the taste not too much tartness and the lemon once again. Refreshing though not too memorable.

jmgreenuk (9870) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - SEP 8, 2017
Tap at Changwon Express 2, Bangkok. Poured a hazy straw colour with a thin white head. The aroma is light yeast, citrus fruits. The flavour is light sour with a fresh, crisp, light, watery cucumber, light tart fruit palate. Light bodied with average carbonation.

mariuspoenari (2954) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - JUL 30, 2017
On tap at Brody’s. Light pale golden pour, clear, with a thin white head. Notes of grains, pilsner malt, light lactic tartness, lemon zest. Clean and refreshing, though leaning too much towards a pilsener to my liking.

IndianaRed (4941) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUL 24, 2017
On Tap at BitterCreek Clear bright light yellow. Light faint wheat malt flavors, modest tartness. Tastes like a watered down Berliner. Just OK

BuckeyeBoy (8301) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUL 23, 2017
On tap at bittercreek boise. Pours out a hazy straw golden color topped with a fizzy white head. Nose is wet sour wheat some light fruit notes mostly lemon zest. Taste is as the nose with a citrus note and the wet sour grain.

stchloe (1104) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 17, 2017
Pretty pour, but very bland its a clear red berliner weisee, but doesn’t offer a lot of depth or distinction

Bullit (4684) - Burgos, SPAIN - JUL 16, 2017
Tap at De Kromme Haring. Clear golden. Apple juice, sour, fruity, low carb. So-so.

caesar (7170) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - JUL 14, 2017
Tap @ Kromme Haring, 10 cl sample. Slight hazy yellow color, short frothy head. Aroma of cardboard, grainy wheat, sewer funk, old milk. Slight lactic in taste, dry. Boring. The cardboard box of old milk with a two days old muesli dish is not what I like about berliner weisses. Maybe it’s supposed to be that way, but I prefer sweet and sourness. Did not like this.

Draft at Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Clear golden with a small white head. Aroma of wheat, tart citrus and light unripe berries. Flavour is light to moderate sour. Light bodied with soft carbonation.

maltman53 (472) - Corrales, New Mexico, USA - MAY 7, 2017
On tap @ the brewery: light, little head, light-yellow pour. Tart/hop balanced, finishing refreshingly. Overall, representative of the international style.

60minuteman (1765) - West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 26, 2017
Sampled at Urban BBQ. Cloudy yellow color. Candied fruit aroma. Medium body that finishes sour lemon and wheat. Tasty.
