Dark brown color with no head. Malty aroma and taste. A little caramel lacing and raw barley as well. Not a great dunkel. robertsreality (2460) - Minnesota, USA - SEP 16, 2004
Dark Brown Coloring. No Head. Good Malts. Maybe the Smallest Amount of Chocolate. Pretty Average Dunkel. Nuffield (4171) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - DEC 29, 2003
Vanilla, nutty, caramel aroma. Red-chestnut color with good lacing. Bubbly but restrained and somewhat smooth. Hints of roastiness. Like their doppelbock but lacking the alcoholic notes. The best of their beers that I tried. jazz88 (2679) - San Francisco, California, USA - DEC 28, 2003
Tap @ brewpub. A mahogany brown color with a tan head. Roasted malts with a pleasant hint of chocolate. beermatrix (1497) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - SEP 20, 2003
Color is of clearish chestnut brown with a ruby-like quality featured through its body, tannish thin puffy head that fades to a skim always present and lace in tons of spots all over the glass. Smell is faint, barely there, roasted malts and not mush else. Taste is subdued sweet roasted malts, a touch of chocolate malts and hops but the sweetness dominates a bit much and the character of roastyness is all but smeared away faster then a you can say t...too late. Feel is a lighter medium body, smooth and fresh but far too sweet and boring. Nothing going on in this to make any impression. Forgetable. Passable.

Served at Winterfest in St. Paul, MN on Feb. 8, though wasn't listed in the program, and was therefore likely a late add. Good Bavarian Dunkel aroma. Black cherry colors. Good dunkel. Better than some in Munich; comparable to the Dunkel at the Hofbrauhaus in Munich...and I liked that. Malty. Quite good.
