OK, so I’ve seen this bottle/brand in my store for quite awhile now. Hermitage is really hit or miss (mostly miss) but I was hankering for something new so.....
The beers strength is its appearance, and it pours out a beautiful, clear, chocolate-mahogany brown body, 1" dirty-white head with quick dissipation. Sitting there in my glass, it looks like a top-notch whiskey...looks great. But, that’s about where the goodness ends. Aroma has this odd maraschino-cherry, Sweet-Tart, fig juice, cough-syrup thing going on. It’s oddly intriguing. Flavor is pretty blech, with some odd cherry jam sweetness mixed with cider vinegar and chlorine. The odd thing is, the sweetness and acidic characters are all really toned down...watered down would be the better word. Really hard to enjoy this one, and to call it a Flemish Sour is a crime.
UPDATED: AUG 12, 2017 Stored cooled for 1.5 yrs. Clear amber pour with a thick head. Nose of yeast and fruit, slightly sour. Taste is malty, with light fruit/cherries and lightly sour. Interesting take on a Flemish sour...maltier and not as sour but well balance and enjoyable. slowrunner77 (12588) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 1, 2014
UPDATED: MAY 2, 2015 "a little sweet and definitely spiced. there’s two trains of thought here...one being that this wasn’t really meant to be a sour. that it was a mistake they botted, and i can see where one might think that. maaaybe a touch funky, but not really sour at all. if it didn’t say sour on the label i’d have thought i was drinking a weird mediocre spiced ale. really not much to go back for, at any price point. not a horrible beer, but definitely a joke of a sour ale." Bottle; color was a dark reddish brown color. Aroma was very malty, caramel and dark fruit. Taste was like a cruddy barley wine. A bit acidic, not much sour, lot of caramel and rotten fruit. Not good on most levels

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. Clear amber pour with an off-white head. The aroma is full of caramel and toffee with some grape and cherry notes. The flavor has some slightly tart grape notes as well as some cherries and sweet toffee malt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Oly (67) - Crawfordsville, Indiana, USA - JUN 20, 2013
Thanks to StFun for including this in a trade. The flavor is all old prune. It’s like homebrew that turned into funk. Yuck. AmEricanbrew (6878) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - SEP 27, 2012
Murky brown color with no head. Over ripe prune, prune juice aromas. Medium body with little co2. Watered down prune juice flavors with dark pit fruits, wet cardboard--very nasty bu11zeye (13140) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - SEP 10, 2012
