Earl of Essex. Keg. Mild haze on this gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, mild fine carbonation. Quite thin for the abv. Semi dry malts, some bitterish floralness. Tangy dried fruits. Light semi dry finish. For a DIPA this is pretty non descript, no thrust to what little hop there is. No off flavours though.
500ml bottle, pours golden brown with a white head. Nice hoppy aroma, piney and citrus, grapefruit and, most prominent, lemon with peppery spiciness. Light to medium body, texture is resiny and oily, with soft but lasting carbonation. Finish is bitter. Garrold (5180) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 6, 2015
Bottle. Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Hazy, pale amber. Film of sticky, white head. Fusty stuff, this. Mandarin. Peach stone. There’s some plum type fruit to it. Some pine. Sweet, grainy malts at the back. Taste is full on, piny bitter. Palate is oily, and carbonation is soft. Finishesostly big, long bitter, with a little sweetness on the lips. Slightly weird Toilet Duck thing going on, but I didn’t mind this. jackafholmes (1015) - - JAN 31, 2015
Bottle from hop hideout, sheffield. Slightly Hazy orange with not much head. Aroma is strong dry grain, grapefruit and hay. Taste is very bitter. Prickly with alcohol warmth. Didn’t really enjoy it. slowrunner77 (11917) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 23, 2014
"Hmmm. There’s a reason this was on sale. Mostly misses from this brewer, but I’m all for second (or 9th) chances. This one may have been around for a bit too long, but who knows. No bottle date. The sweetish malts play a more dominant role than i;d prefer with some grapefruit like bitterness and a decent flavor, but a pretty lacklustwer aroma for any kind of ipa, double or not."

Sample at Tied House. Hazy amber color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily to a film. Small patches of lace. Hops, pine and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of resiny hops, grainy malt and slight citrus. The finish is moderately bitter with a spruce and hops aftertaste. Decent overall. Had at the Great Arkansas Beer Festival 2014. Pours a hazy orange. Lots of pine and some citrus. Some malty biscuit. Nice beer. Fredis23 (564) - Hickory Hills, Illinois, USA - OCT 14, 2013
Dark Hazy Orange, Huge Foamy Head, Lots Of Lacing. Aroma of Caraway. Taste of Malt, Caraway, Hop Bitter Finish. Only half way through for a brief moment there was s standard IPA taste of Grapefruit and Pine. Medium Buttery Body. Read Some reviews before trying it, so I was anticipating bitter hop bomb but it was not. Just about right for me. Savored and enjoyed it. Recommended... Big bitter hop bite and finish. For hopheads only probably, of which I consider myself, but I’d like to see the malt balance it out more for my tastes. portableparty (2347) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - JUL 17, 2013
500ml bottle. Pours hazy orange with a white foamy soapy head that slowly rests and leaves a sticky lacing. Aroma is bitter and sweet with an abundance of caramel malt. Taste is bitter floral spicy hops and wraps into sweet caramel malt. Palate is full sticky and dry.
