3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a hazy amber color with 1 finger head and mild to moderate lacing. Toasted malt with prominent spruce and tropical fruit hop flavor. A very unique profile. Moderate to full bodied flavor. Moderate carbonation. Chewy. Mildly sweet initially then turns heavy bitterness with long bitter finish. This is very good and unlike any ipa i’ve ever had.
On tap@West End. Clear amber color with ivory head. Woody, ginger, earthy, citrus aromas. Medium body with average carbonation. Nice woody, citrus, minty herbal flavors with a solid base brew----different hop flavors for sure---very fresh and tasty. Awktoberfest (404) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - APR 22, 2013
Biscuity smell... kind of sweet smelling...a little bitter on the back end...not the greatest as an ipa.. It lacks what I like...and lack anything that would make this beer interesting...aroma and looks are its best attributes...not the lemon burst u would think from the sorachi ace hops either.. Just ok

It poured a tan/brown color with a beige head. The aroma was earthy and malty, with some lemon Sorachi Ace hoppiness. The taste was heavy Sorachi Ace upfront, followed by a slight bitterness and moderate levels of maltiness. This was very good. ddemmingjr (800) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - DEC 24, 2012
Bottle: pours clear amber, modest off white head that settles. Nose is distinct, kiwi, mango, lime, spearmint and perfume elements. Kinda weird actually. Lots of similar fruitiness and some spruce, mint tones hitting you as the drying bitterness lasts on the back of the tongue. This hop simply works better with farmhouse and Saison offerings in my opinion. I love IPAs and there’s something off balanced here.

22oz. bottle, Batch 475, dated 8/2/12. Aroma features a good bit of the Sorachi Ace character right up front, with its peculiar fruity, leafy herbal spiciness, blended with some lightly sweet, toasty caramel malts. Clear medium-dark amber in color, with a lasting, fine, uneven head and fine spots of lacing. Flavor profile is pretty well balanced between the gently sweet, caramel and toasted grain character of the malt and the fruity, almost piney, herbal hop flavors, and with a moderate amount of bitterness that shows through primarily at the finish. Moderately effervescent and lightly resinous on the palate with a medium-full body. Interesting for the single hop experiment that it is, very drinkable. thegreenrooster (4402) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - OCT 6, 2012
Pour is a dark, hazy copper with an average whtie head. Aroma is a decent zesty hop citrus with some oily caramel malts. Flavor is some tropical fruit hoppyness with a heavy earthy malt. Finish leaves a caramel and spicy fruit on the tounge. Decent but not great. They really went for a heavy malt bill that kinda takes away from the hops used. wlajwl (6813) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - OCT 5, 2012
Aroma is tropical fruit/kiwi and other characteristics I can only assume are from the Sorachi hops. The flavor is kiwi, lime, mild hop resin, malts and a lingering bitterness/almost warming in the finish. fidelis83 (2441) - Clinton, Iowa, USA - OCT 2, 2012
Pours a clear, light copper with a 2 finger, oily, chunky cream colored head, that has excellent retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is caramel, biscuit, toast, lots of citrus hops, citrus oils, some pine. Flavor is biscuit and cereal grain up front, then caramel, hay and mineral notes, then the hops come in lots of oily citrus, some pine, a little mango heavy tropical fruit, pine and planty notes come in a little toward the not too bitter finish. Palate is light to medium bodied with a creamy entry, gradually drying out to an off dry finish. Quite good overall, I like the Sorachi hop profile pretty well, but I think it is better off in a blend to muddle the straight up citrus oil taste a bit.
