JDW Spring fest - Rochester. Creamy chocolate with a nice burnt toast nip. Body is a bit flat despite the cappuccino head. Some coffee lingering in the finish. OK. imdownthepub (14448) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 18, 2010
Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons.. Black with tan head. Overly sweet beer on the sicky side, this is after a quite pleasant nose. Chalky between the saccharine sweetness and touches of tobacco. cgarvieuk (24166) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 16, 2010

Cask at the Moon under Water (JDW) in Hounslow. Poured a deep black-brown with a medium-thin head, and a plummy yet drying nose. It’s dry-sweet with dark chocolate, with hints of dry plums and raisins. Similar to a mild but with a slightly bitter finish. leaparsons (10502) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - APR 11, 2010
Cask, The Highcross, Leicester. Very dark brown with a dense beige foam. Aromas are chocolate and roast coffee malts with liquorice notes. Some cream and vanilla. Flavours are roast malts with quite rich dark chocolate. Lightly gritty with a dry finish. OK.

Cask-conditioned at Penderel’s Oak (JDW), High Holborn 9/04/10. Near black with a decent, off-white head. Sweet chocolate, light roastiness, marred by something vegetal in the background. Ok. weaselkenievil (1608) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - MAR 3, 2008
Black as the blackie the black cat from next door in the middle the night. Minus the bright eyes. Thin brown, quickly fading head. Treacle toffee like for me, a good beer for the witches and wizards amongst my fellow rate beer freaks. One of those beers I neither liked nor disliked. Cask in Counting House. Aroma is roasty and burnt malt, hints of dark fruit also. Taste is similar very burnt notes however not too bitter so not completly ruined, but not my scene. Stopherbomber (111) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 21, 2007

Cask at Penny Black, Wetherspoons, Bicester. Poured pretty much black much like I expected. Some sweetness and oaky notes in the aroma, taste has a bit of bite a little sour tang around the edges but tempered with some sweetness, very pleasant.
