3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUL 3, 2013 Draft at Herrmann Keller in Ampferbach. A fairly typical kellerbier for Franconia: grassy, nectary, lemon oil hops with quiet / neutral pale malt sweetness. More banana / fruit esters than most, but still quiet enough to let the hops drive the experience. Becomes a tad starchy and grainy after a while, and the grain husk character swells about halfway through the glass, as does some dish soap and detergent dirtiness. Still these flaws are minor and the beer as a whole is drinkable, but certainly nothing special to seek out, though it may vary from batch to batch as much as anyone.
Draught at Akkurat.
Mostly clear golden with a 2 finger fluffy white head.
Aroma of sweet malts with cookies and straw, a ponch of citrus and peach and then some freshly cut grass. Maybe a pinch of buttered corn as well.
Taste is sweet and slight doughy cookie malts with vague fruity notes of peach, wet stone and grass.
Medium bodied with soft big round mouthfeel, soft creamy carbonation.
Sweet, soft and round, but also crisp. Nice!

Pours a hazy red color - Aroma on this beer has malt, bread, yeast and some noble hops. Flavor is malty, with some dark complex sugary flavors. Crisp, dry finish with a good amount of bitterness. Beerhunter111 (22203) - P´Castle, GERMANY - JAN 3, 2015
Klares dunkel goldenes Bier mit einer ordentlichen weißen Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig, leicht fruchtig, hopfig, grasig. Geschmack ordentlich gehopft, würzig, dezent bitter, minimal metallisch.

Draught at Herrmann Keller in June 2013: Color indeterminable (served in steinkrug). Slightly soapy and vegetal nose is further marred by matchsticks and some fusel alcohol. Underlying note of pecan maltiness and flowers. Scant carbonation. Flimsy body. Touch of minerals paves the way for a sharp grassy bitterness and splash of fruitiness. Malt is curiously muted and poorly defined, with merely a trace of breadcrust poking through the esters. Alcohol is lousily cloaked. Hops yield an unrefined salty, spent tea-leaf bitterness which is exacerbated by a soapy astringency and a limp, sugary body. The one-dimensionally grassy finish gains no support from the malt or any bright hop flavors. Chemical notes abound in this dull kellerbier. Just couldn’t get into this as much as Mikey. Their Hefe Weissbier (bottle), on the other hand, was exceptionally tasty, so I didn’t spend a whole of of time with this. hirigalzkar (3242) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUN 2, 2013
