Pours a large head due to the very large carbonation, which also dominates the palate while tasting.

Vintage 2008. Bath No. 152.
Serving date: 2009-01-13.
Served in snifter.
Presentation: 500 ml bottle with freshness date on label. A short description of taste profile on the label, and some recommended food pairings. The label also says that the beer was originally brewed for the annual viking games in Fredriksund (Denmark).
Pours a dark amber, which is a bit cloudy, with a 1 cm creamy head that dissipates quickly. Small lacings . Some yeast residues appear in the glass.
Aromas of sweet malts up-front are coupled with honey and hints of spices of some kind. A slight bitterness can also be noted.
In the mouth, a sweet malty flavor takes the lead. Then a mix of honey, fruits - mostly melon - spices and a faint, faint note of sweet licorice candy. The finish is characterized by a distinct but not overpowering bitterness and notes of lemon. The taste of this brew was actually rather uneven and edgy. It’s not bold. Instead it sprawls in different directions. Towards the end it actually tends to come out a bit bland. Alcohol presence is almost unnoticeable.
Smooth mouthfeel. Very smooth, actually. Pleasant body. The mouthfeel is really the highlight of the beer.
Overall, I must say I find this to be kind of a strange beer. It’s not a bad one - the taste offers some interesting and pleasant flavors and the smooth mouthfeel is great. Rather, its more interesting than good. I could probably see myself having it again though.
