UPDATED: MAR 5, 2011 Bottle. Pours out in a beautiful hazy deep burgundy red colour with a rich sticky off-white head. Big, deep and rich fruity aroma of prune, raisins, black cherries, forest scents, red grapes and dense malts. Full-bodied with rich malty and fruity notes of prunes, red berries, sweet English licorice, leather and and mild gentle white pepper. Smooth mouthfeel. Long aftertaste of raisins, prunes, over-riped raspberries, cherry-skins, caramelized nuts, and mild pepper. A wonderful piece of art.

(Bottle) Ruby colour with dense, beige head. Malty, fruity, vinous nose with notes of caramel, dried fruit, raspberries, cherries, treacle-toffee and hints of red wine. Malty, fruity, slightly tart taste with caramel, raspberries, sour cherries, toffee, citrus peel, a touch of port wine and vinous finish with balanced bitterness and a warming touch of alcohol. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Quite powerful, but really tasty and warming. Very nice.

500ml bottle (Zmogsala 2015, Vilnius) (7+:4:8:4+:15+=3.8+++)
Lovely sharp sweet aroma, not so bretty, but another wild component’s got its teeth into this. Beautiful dark orange, and a small ring of bubbles. First taste is sweet and peachy, but very quickly it turns into pure apricot. Beautiful attenuation, not too sweet. Love the apricot finish. Anna gets walnut, I find that odd, as I would normally home in on that kind of component. Superb barley wine.

Light beige medium head, clear crimson in colour. Caramel, dried fruit and roastiness on the nose. Thick mouthfeel, soursweet, notes of toffee, pine, dried fruit and cellar. Finishes warm and a bit sweet. Interesting.

Vells (1846) - Rīga, LATVIA - JAN 17, 2015
Huge beer! Intense maltiness, lovely caramel combined with bit acidic fruitiness, dark fruits, raisins, dried fruits, light wood, cant feel much of the hops, but thats not needed here. Lovely syrupy. Moderate sweetness with moderate to light sourness and light bitterness
