COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle at the Laid Back Brussels Tasting (Feb 9, 2008)
Amber, muddy body. Lightly brown, creamy to fizzy head. Aroma of hops, caramel: a good complexity and balance. Lightly sweet initial flavour, moderately bitter, lightly sweet finish? Reminds me of chamomile tea. Quite nice.

This is later in our tasting, and my notes are starting to get off track. The nose is fruity and malty, while flavor is a complex picture of balance: light sweetness, some tartness and mild bitterness. Nothing is intense or sticks out too much. Its just a tasty, well put-together brown ale. Big thanks to Tim for this gem.

Hazy brown with meidum off white head. Sweet spicy aroma with oranges, and roasted malt. Same goes for the flavor with warming alcohol in the end.

Bottled. Hazy amber colour, with a solid, dense pale beige head. Enormously fruity with pomerance, lilac and bird cherry. Sweetish and creamy mouthfeel with Belgian yeast backbone. There are esters and herbs once warmed up. And a little white choclate. Medium-full bodied. Interesting beer.

pivnizub (10245) - Bochum, Porř, GERMANY - DEC 31, 2007
Bottle: Hazy, amber coloured, quite stable creamy off-white head, sweet-dark-malt in the mineralic and metallic nose; robust sweet-bitter flavour, medium to full bodied; spicy, a bit musty, cellary finish with some alcoholic fruitiness in the aftertaste. No great pleasure............

2007 version Good, very dense light-beige head, fast reduced to a rim above the deep brown opaque beer. Glue, solvent, sweet malts & chocolate: sharper notes upon something that could have well originated in the Ardennes. Spices and pineneedles, but blending in. Sweet-bitterish/spicy. Again very Walloon. Spices are present again, but I find it difficult to name them, which is a good thing (for the beer). Yeasty esters. Warming up, especially liquorice, restrained coriander, and dill (rather than anise) come up, chocolate-like sweetness remaining. Medium to well-bodied, alcohol peeping through. Way better than the first version (which I had infected, anyway). This might be the Danish Fantme, maybe?
