500 ml bottle 2010, 8% ABV. Clear, dark amber body with a big, foamy off-white head that fades. Aroma is malty with spices, mainly anis and liquorices. Flavor is sweet and soft malty, spicy, a bit fruity, moderate bitter and with a sweet malty aftertaste. Quite OK, maybe just a bit on the sweeter side with some lack of bitterness.

500 ml bottle. 2010 edition. Bottle says 8.0% abv. Dark brown and seemingly clear. Tall fine-laced off-white head that clings to the glass. Sourish spicy aroma. Hints of Belgian yeast. Pepper, licorice, coriander, cinnamon and anise seed flavours. Warming alcohol. Soft carbonation level that balances the alcohol and spices nicely. Velvety texture. Balanced and quite enjoyable.

larsga (7444) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 18, 2010
Big medium beige head. Red body. Spicy herbal aniseed and cardamom aroma with herbal coriander notes. A bit too sharply spiced, perhaps. Dry-sweetish oily earthy coriander taste with fruity aniseed notes. Full-bodied. Mild, faintly hot mouthfeel. Dryish coriander and herbs aftertaste with roasty soy sauce notes. Not bad, but very, very spicy. (0.5l bottle, wine monopoly Vika, Oslo.)

0.5L bottle from Vinmonopolet. Low sand-colored head. Hazed, dark ruby colored body. Inviting Belgo-yeast on the nose, along with tones of English licorice and dried dark fruits. Also a scent of aniseed, fortunately not overdone. Spiced and light sweet malt flavor. Some burnt sugar, some light roast, and a hint of dried dark fruits. Bitterness for balancing. Medium full. Alcohol is well masked. Spiced malt finish. Not top end Belgian style dark strong, but solid and reliable.

Rune (12002) - Troms, NORWAY - NOV 21, 2010
300ml, draught, guest ale at BrewPub Kbenhavn. Huge, off-white head that stays quite well. Near-clear, mahogany coloured body. Sweet dark malts and liquorice to the nose, hints of spices, too. Sweet chocolate malts in flavour sustained by candy sweetness, Yuletide spices and a touch of dried fruits like raisin. Gets way too sweet in the long run (Copenhagen, 13.11.2010).
