COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

ClubGonzo (5670) - Bergen, NORWAY - NOV 11, 2010
Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Dark, near-murky brown body with a thick, creamy off-white head. Nose is original and somewhat strange: sweet licorice, dark chocolate, molasses, roasted malts, hints of raisins, black currants and nougat. It’s kinda like mixing a fruity imp stout with a Belgian strong ale. The taste is more in the vicinity of Belgium, with some spiciness I can’t quite put my finger on; perhaps a bit of cardamom, clove or cinnamon. Or maybe anis. It could very well be anis. Something Xmasy, at least. A pretty nice holiday brew from Herslev.

0.5l bottle. This one pours a deep brown body with a red hue and a mild brown fading head. The aroma has nice spicy tones, lots of sweet caramel, sweet raisin, caramel malts and a licorice-anise spicy hint. Quite complex and not bad. Average carbonation level, full-bodied, warming with a nice rich and oily mouthfeel. Spicy and sweet flavors; lots of caramel and anise, licorice touches blended with milk chocolate and a nutty snickers-like flavors. Nuts and fudge perhaps? Ends really warming with a long and spicy aftertaste. Good stuff!
