Rich body, lowish carbonation, very complex flavours - licorice all sorts, slightly woody with a tart streak complementing the sweetness. Clear dark red brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark malt, caramel, star anis, sweet malt, wood, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, dark malt, wood, alcohol, sweet malt, star anis, candy sugar. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic.

Bottle Hillerød Øldage. High creamy lasting light brown head. Pitch black body. Smooth and pleasant roasted malt coffee liquorice aroma. Flavor dominated by liquorice but coffee caramel wood and vanilla is also spotted. Fair amount of hops bitterness although the general impression is a relatively sweet beer. Sample from 50 cl bottle. Dark brown, bordering black colour with a thin, off white head. Sweet aroma with rich caramel malts, liqourice, wooden notes, dark, dried fruits and vineuos notes. Taste is sweet. Full bodied. Finishes sweet and fruity with dark, over ripe fruits. Lovely beer.
