COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hertog Jan is a brand for beer lovers with an appreciation of natural, tasteful beer. This is a fruity aromatic bottom-fermented pils characterised by a golden color, full body and pleasantly bitter aftertaste. It should be served at 4 to 6C (39 to 43F).

Bottled. Very dry pilsener. Deep gold pour with good thick head that dissipates slowly enough for a macro-pilsener. Appreciable at times, but not enjoyable even for a whole bottle. Was left looking for something better.

Joakgust (1502) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JAN 4, 2018
Can. Clear golden amber beer with a large white head. Aroma is spicy with notes of hay, bread, sausage, herbs and cabbage. Flavor is spicy with notes of hay, grain, bread, herbs and cabbage. Too malty for a pilsner.

Quite drinkable and ok to accompany spicy food. Nothing special. Tastes like most Dutch lager, though not having the unpleasant aftertaste you get with Heineken and Grolsch.

UPDATED: NOV 24, 2017 Definitely in my top 3 of dutch pilsners! All natural and hoppy, but not watery.

30cl bottle from Holland. @Cimmeria, 14-11-2017.
Poor average industrial lager. Standard appearance, aromas and flavours. Quite dull, tasteless, flat carbonation, boring and forgettable.

Well this is not a good beer, although this tastes alot better than Heineken. It still feels like I’m drinking water, it tastes very bland and dead from the get go unfortunately. The smell is terrific don’t waste your money on this one.

25cl on tap @ Bastion Hotel Zaandam. Robe pale avec légère mousse. Bière très classique.

Man merkt, dass das Herzog Jan Pilsener zur InBeV-Gruppe gehört. Geschmacklich ein Massenbier, trinkbar, aber beliebig! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2017 Aroma: sweetness, malts, and some hay. Taste: sweet, white bread, malty, corn and some hops.

I wouldn't go as far as accepting it as a real PIls that could compare to its German or Bohemian peers, but among Dutch Lagers, this is one of the better. When in the Netherlands, it is my choice to go with a BBQ. Easy to drink.
