Tastes more like a white beer than a Weizener. Not a very special beer as well, a bit spicy. I would prefer an other white beer or Weizener, but it’s not bad.

Bottle from a Dutch supermarket, the ’Hefeweizen’ in this industrial and AB InBev-owned brand but based on the ingredients list, which mentions coriander and curaao, this is not a Hefeweizen at all but a Belgian-style witbier... Thick, frothy, snow white, regularly shaped, dense head staying closed for a long time, over a hazy ’old gold’ coloured beer with warm orangey tinge and visible fizz here and there. Aroma of mandarin, orange peel (even ’fresh’ rather than the dried ones that actually went in here), ripe peach, jasmin, banana, chewing gum, powder sugar, white bread, coriander, baking powder, gypsum, soap, dry cookies, grass. Crisp, sweetish onset, banana and peach hints in a very clean kind of way, bubblegum, with a soft sourish undertone, medium carbonated; slick, soapy, bit creamy body. Malt sweet middle, soapy wheat but in a soft and sweetish way not including the sourishness one would find in a witbier, tad bready but in a thin and clean way, orange peel flavours lingering alongside soapy coriander providing a soft, bit perfumey spiciness to the finish, along with a late and expectedly very mild but still adequate touch of grassy hop bitterishness, with a gently drying effect. Bubblegummy flavours linger but not in an overly bothersome way. Quite decent for an industrial beer actually, I expected less from this. The banana and bubblegum effect of isoamylacetate is reminiscent of the other industrialized Dutch ’Weizens’ but clearly spicing a beer intended as a Weizen with dried orange peel and coriander is very un-German and results in a kind of hybrid between Hefeweizen and witbier - in other words, this beer is definitely not true to style and is not really a Weizen, which could be a bit of an issue for people buying this and expecting something really German style. Other than that, this feels way less industrial than expected, simple alright, but enjoyable enough.

From bottle at home, a very good cloudy dark yellow color, good head. Taste is okay, but the aftertaste is not there for a long time.

Pours hazy orange golden, topped with smaller white head. Sweaty sweet wheat nose with some bananas. Sweet wheaty, slight spiciness in the finish. Medium body and medium aftertaste. Not bad.

Flesje gekregen van TomHendriksen. Oranje-geel bier, licht troebel.

Fruitig geurend van o.a. citrus.

bottle from grocery store,
Light in body, pale in color, some light top. Refreshing one without off-flavors, but without distinct coriander or orange peel flavor. Light dry finish, not much acid aftertaste, rather pleasantly sourish flavor note.

Lekker weissener van de tap. Gedronken in De Koog op Texel. Het smaakt beter dan het gewone witbier door de bittere smaak.

EvNa (499) - Ede, NETHERLANDS - JUN 25, 2017
Bottle. Color: Hazy orangish golden, dense white head. Taste: Coriander, wheat, hints of orange peel, yeast. Medium body and carbonation. Bit watery. Lacking taste and freshness.
