Amber coloured. Toffee aroma. Chewy and malty, dryish with filling mouthfeel. Complex flavours, and chocoalte finish. This is the most outstanding of the fine ales I sampled at this pearl of a country brewpub in the northernmost corner of the English Lake District. If you want to eat here, make sure to reserve a table way ahead, as it is very popular with the locals.
Bottled. A copper coloured beer with a whitish head. A nice smoky, malty aroma. Sweet ish in the mouth with good fruits and a nice malty body. Really easy to drink and far better and more enjoyable than the sum of its parts which is a real skill. Strilen (8) - FYLLINGSDALEN, NORWAY - AUG 4, 2012 does not count
Bottled. Golden and very clear appearance, but minimal white head. Aroma with elements of hay, grass, peach (and banana). Heavy sweet, lightly bitter, with a light bitter aftertaste leftarmover (8) - Alberta, CANADA - MAR 7, 2008 does not count
Many pints at the Brewery Tap itself in Hesket Newmarket. A fine session bitter. Fairly well balanced malt in the mouth and hops leading through to a dry fruit finish. Goes particularly well with the Rogan Josh served in the Crown Inn. DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - FEB 5, 2006
Cask Handpump at the Assembly Rooms, Derby 08/02/2003

Cask, Beehive Carlisle. Sweet, fruity aroma and flavour. A good body, with a bittersweet finish and tang. Not had this for years & I think it’s vastly improved imawayforapint (17) - , Alberta, CANADA - AUG 9, 2008
Good session bitter. Blew most of my Summer earnings at the brewery tap drinking Doris’ health when doing fieldwork for uni there. oh6gdx (26487) - Vasa, FINLAND - AUG 31, 2013
Bottled. Goldeny amber colour with a small white, but longlasting head. Aroma is fruits, some mild bready and biscuity maltiness along with a bit berryish notes. Flavour is sweet and crispy malts, with some floral and berryish notes kicking in. Mellow. jjsint (3429) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - MAR 9, 2015
Cask at Old Friends, Ulverston. Golden, heading to copper. Medium-sized white head. Malt, butterscotch aroma, some astringency. Not terribly engaging. Taste is better: some orangey sour adds complexity to the bittersweet character. Medium dry finish. Interesting. Nekronos (4174) - Xalapa, MEXICO - SEP 6, 2006
Very storng one, amber like in colour and good foam. Too strong to have much of it.
