COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For more than 35 years we had to miss the Christmas beer but in 2002 the tradition was restored with Gouden Carolus Christmas. It’s a strong, dark ruby red ale with character and contains an alcohol percentage of 10.5 % alc.vol. Brewed in August, the beer rests a few months to reach an optimal balance. Six different kinds of herbs and spices and three different kinds of hops define the rich taste followed by a long, well-seasoned aftertaste. Perfect combination with wild, stews or ripened, strong cheeses. Top-class!

Bottle. 25.4 oz. Courtesy of and split with my good pal Vin. Pours a deep mahogany, bloody plum red-amber with a massive, meringue, creamy beige head. The nose begins with a rush of raisins, soft, buttery dough, and sweet yeast, following through on soft, warm sugar cookies, plums, dark cherries, figs, slight oak, molasses, toffe, Belgian candied sugars and finishes with subtle notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, and banana bread. The body is as huge, warm, round, and jolly as Ol’ Saint Nicholas himself. Heavy. warm, comforting, and as smooth and clean as the freshest winter snow. This is, perhaps, the best Christmas ale I have ever had the privilege and pleasure to sip and snjoy. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night. Cheers.

My every new years beer. If I was going to make a crappy new years movie with a bunch of crappy actors that no one will remember next new years, and had to forget how crappy it was, I’d drink a case of these.

A belgian, very dark brown, very strong X-mas ale with barley malt and wheat, and with very high, creamy head. Aroma is liqourice toffee, caramel, light malt, light prune? Taste is sweet and light bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Wow! Truly amazing beer. Aroma is of delicatey spiced gluhwein and appearance to match, deep burgundy. Pours from bottle with beautiful tall off-white foam head. Taste mildly sweet with no bitterness or saltiness. Palate soft and supple. Fantastic beer. I almost thought I was drinking a rich red wine at first. Highly recommend, not just for Christmas. Top notch drop.
