CraftyHare (131) - Adelaide, AUSTRALIA - AUG 4, 2017

Gouden Carolus Classic 8.3% Bottle at Aeon Liquors in Kyoto.
A deep brown with a light beige head that lingers like a milk mustache. The aroma is candied fruits, plums, raisins, biscuit. Fairly light bodied but rich in flavor and with a bit of heat. The taste is toffee, raisins and malt balls covered in chocolate. Good stuff.
I’ve had this beer previously in a big bottle and loved it, yet never rated it (because the thought had not yet crossed my mind to post ratings!). This on-tap tasting comes from the Belgian Beer Cafe at the airport in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, while waiting for a flight. It’s pretty much what I remember -- very, very good. Aroma: dark dried fruits. Flavor: figs, dates, ripe plums, raisins, prunes, caramelized brown sugar, yeast, bananas, ripe black grapes. Mouthfeel: medium- to full-bodied; creamy, soft finish. adamnase (1000) - Kronoby, FINLAND - JUL 20, 2017
