COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Unfiltered
Origin: Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor completes the taste pallet of the gamma Carolus-beers.

Name: "Hopsinjoor" is a wordplay to for one thing the several hops which were used, and on the other hand the typical character of Mechelen of Gouden Carolus: the figure "opsinjoor" is intertwined with the history of Mechelen (see: www.opsinjoorke.be/Opsinjoorke/opsinjoor.htm).

5 types of hops are used in this beer. These hops were fractioned at several times in the cooking process in order to keep a maximum of aroma.

Regarding to taste we can say that the beer has a gentle, but nevertheless bitter aftertaste. Gold-yellow colour. Hoppy aroma.

Dec. '16. A 0.33 l bottle, thanks Marko for sharing! It poured a very hazy yellow body with a big head. Quite pleasant aroma, light ripe fruits, honey and herbal hoppy with distinct, almost salty mineral note that some Belgian ales show and I didn't realize how much I missed it until then. Flavor was lightly sweet fruity blending in nicely with herbal and citrus hops. Also spicey like cloves, mint and a bit of black pepper. Medium bodied with strong hop presence in the finish retaining all the Belgian ale qualities shown before. Alcohol was quite well hidden. A bit light for its ABV but a very enjoyable beer. Good job Het Anker!

Copenhagen 20/1 2018. 33 cl bottle from Øl-handleren in Hørning. Usual Carolus design in Green with a boast of winning gold medals at World Beer Awards. Pours hazy golden yellow with very big white head. Settles as 3 cm thick layer of dense foam. Massive Lacing. Aroma is surpringly malty and not very hoppy. Malty sweetness and caramel with spicy notes. Vanilla, humid earthy basement. Bitter odors in the background. Soft carbonation and medium thick, creamy palate. Flavor is medium to strong sweet followed by medium bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. For a beer called “Hopsinjoor” this beer is not very bitter. But a solid Belgian with a modest, bitter twist.

Moretum (251) - Vienna, AUSTRIA, AUSTRIA - JAN 16, 2018

Bottle from Super Liquor IV in Ann Arbor. Aroma is caramel, nutty, booze, hops, yeast, old. Appearance is brownish amber, hazy, light tan head. Taste is fruit, caramel, hops, nutty, yeast, booze, old. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, boozy old fruit caramel aftertaste. Overall, I'm sure this is better fresh, but I'm pretty sure it's past its prime.
