Bottle shared during Scopey’s 5K tasting - Croydon, London. Big thanks to Josh! Pours deep black, oily, with a frothy beige head. Lovely milk chocolate character, with touches of burnt marshmallows and toffee. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Great condition. Warming finish, with rich cocoa notes, more burnt marshmallow, moderate wood, milk chocolate. Very well balanced and drinkable. Outstanding.

Bottle. A dark brown beer, unclear, and topped by a dense, finger-thick beige head. It’s malty on the nose, with dark chocolate, some coffee, roasted malt and some alcohol. Booze notes too. It’s full-bodied, warming and with a nice carbonation. Coffee, some licorice and dark chocolate, roasted malts and a boozy touch. Lasting finish. Too boozy this one, but quite nice anyway. 150724

mmahut (1859) - CZECH REPUBLIC - SEP 30, 2014
Bottle. Pours in dark body with no head at all, oily body. Aroma has a lot of chocolate, dark caramel, toffee, light wood, a touch of whiskey alcohol warmness. Taste has a lot of woody, almost ash like, bitterness with some sweet caramel ending. Little bit too much bitterness for a perfect balance. Body is medium, almost no carbonation.
