Served in a mug from cask at Southampton Arms, half-pint shared with Finn. Deep, amber brown body under a bright naked surface. Smell of resin and caramel malts. Semi-sweet malts added by resinous bitterness in the flavour that continues throughout the drink. On the average level (London, 06.11.2012). madmitch76 (24807) - , Essex, ENGLAND - MAR 11, 2012

Chocolatey aroma, nice and roasty. Dark, but flat. Simple roast, a touch of appley retronasals. Flat palate, finish has little more than the roast. Went downhill after the aroma, probably a little tired.

Malty, toasty taste with notes of caramel, dark bread, dried fruit and a fairly dry finish with a balanced bitterness. Medium body. Quite nice. Cask at the Euston Tap, London. Pours a clear, golden-brown with a creamy, white cap. Plenty of nuts in the nose, some coffee and toasted malts, interestingly enough. Light sweet flavor, lots of straight nuts, some hazelnut and almond more specifically, bit of brown sugar and mild earth. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Light roast to finish, yet more nuttiness, mild sugar, some dry roast bitterness, light earthy and herbal hops. Nice. fonefan (49293) - VestJylland, DENMARK - AUG 12, 2011
