COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Russian Imperial Stout was aged for 10 months on a variety of hand-selected oak barrels. Napa Valley, Zinfandel, Kentucky bourbon and North Carolina dark rum barrels all add to the complexity of this illustrious stout. The blend of barrels imparts big roast and molasses flavors that are paired with the notes of chocolate and vanilla to create a creamy beer with huge flavors.

Draft. At the first sniff, the aging does well with a nice bourbon vanilla chocolate smell. Less of that bourbon complexity on the taste, with chocolate dominating.

Draft. Poured black hue with an average creamy tan head that lasted with good lacing. Aroma was a medium to heavy toasted chocolate malt, wood and vanilla aroma. Medium to heavy body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted sweet malt flavor and a medium to heavy complex sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Very good brew.

22 ounce bottle. Dark and rich pour with a creamy mouthfeel and a very big roast almost burnt taste. Chocolate. Nice.

2/25/2017 at Cappy’s in Loveland, Ohio (Hi-Wire Ohio Release Party): Really dark and smooth Imperial Stout with plenty of the typical flavors (chocolate, raisin, wine, vanilla, alcohol, malt, caramel and sugar, etc.). A bit hot even though it’s only 9% ABV. Pretty good overall, but nothing unique really jumped out and captured by interest.

Draft at Cappy’s. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts and dark fruit, plums, raisins, wood, chocolate, vinous, I get hints of most of the barrels mentioned except the bourbon, I guess some dark fruit, cherry character could be from the bourbon, thin for an imperial stout.

Pours near black with a quick off white head. Nose is dark chocolate and some sweet bourbon barrel with a little vanilla and alcohol. Barrel aging is apparent in the flavor and is a nice compliment to an otherwise fairly straightforward stout. Nice quick finish. Good stuff.

Dogbrick (13145) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 31, 2016
Sample at the taproom. Brown-black color with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of oak, malt and chocolate. Medium to full body with flavors of roasted malt, oak, coffee and chocolate. The finish is roasty and oaky with a malty aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

njnut (486) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - DEC 27, 2016
Poured from bottle a very dark brown with moca head and lace. Aroma of deeply roasted malt, vanilla, wood, slight basement funk. Taste was oaky and vanilla over roast malt, burnt toast. The finish starts vanilla but the oak and toast just take over. Wonderful.

Pretty much black color, brown head. Aroma of dates, figs on an espresso background. Taste is coffee, dark chocolate, dark fruit. Tasty.
