Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Gold with a thin white head; slightly sour aroma of red fruit; flavour is sweet and full of chewy fruit offset by a gentle bitterness; leading to a sticky finish. Pleasant and a refreshing change from the current fashion for light citrus summer ales. SaintMatty (7362) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - DEC 31, 2007
Cask at The Guide Dog, Southampton- Amber coloured with a pleasant hoppy and malty aroma with satsumas detected. The flavour is well balanced with hop and malt with a bit of caramel thrown in. downender (8658) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 21, 2007
Cask-conditioned at the Cornubia, Bristol 20/9/07. This was the first pint from a new barrel. Amber coloured with a decent, foamy off-white head. Aroma had some orange fruitiness and floral hops. The flavour had some sweet malt and plenty of earthy hops, before a satisfying bitter finish. Very drinkable. RoyceH (1199) - Hesperange, LUXEMBOURG - MAY 23, 2007
Cask, Whey Pat Ale Festival, St Andrews. Promised a lot, and poured cloudy chestnut with a thin off-white head. Nose was gravy and some malt-hop balance. Mouth is sweet and gravy with some fruit, winter fruit, plums. Caramel sweetness blends with the bouquet at the end to give a slightly off-balance ale, with an odd nose and only one dimension. I dont think clockwork had kept this very well. Aroma was toffee with floural hop. Taste is reasonably balanced however lacking condition and its obviously been on a good few days.
