On tap at The Hideout Brewpub. Light straw yellow with a large white head. Aroma is standard fare with banana, nuts, yeast and bready malt. Taste of bubblegum, banana, clove and yeast with a touch of spice. Decent hefeweizen. patrick767 (4474) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - APR 14, 2011
tap at the brewpub last summer - Pours a cloudy straw color with a lingering white head. It smells of yeast with a touch of banana. The flavor is sweet wheat malt with a bit of citrus and spice. Not bad.

The Crusader’s Weizen, an American-style wheat is a buttery orange colored wheat ale. It opens nicely, with the expected fruity notes of banana and clove and a flocculant nose, however the body was a bit flat, most likely due to something other than Weihenstephan yeast and the lack of a step mash in their simple, single stage brewhouse. I would guess the wheat content somewhere south of 40 percent and the American pale malt resulted in little glass cling or mouthfeel. As is typical in many domestic wheats, there is a lingering bitter finish. Still, it was a pleasant enough quaff and more than worthy of a sample, if you can find your way to the pub.

On tap at brewpub, pours a cloud pear color, aroma has notes of fruit and a hint of cloves, the taste has a very sweet touch with nice touches of banana and cloves, overall it seemed thin and I wish it had a little more to it. xnoxhatex (1305) - Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA - JUL 14, 2009
On tap at the brewpub. Cloudy, light straw color with medium whitehead. Aroma is heavily citrus with a little sour, orange and a little bit of sweetness. Flavor is sweet citrus with lemon, wheat, a little lime. Medium and creamy body. Pretty flavorful, A really solid hefe, I enjoy the slight sour element , one of the best beers of the night. drunkysersose (18) - Michigan, USA - JUN 29, 2008
In the Hoegarten (sp?) department... I like it... drink a couple pints after hitting some of Ken’s harder juice in the Garden. Styles (2016) - Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA - DEC 13, 2007
MBG 7-21-06. hazy light golden, minimal head. Decent banana and clove up front. Flavor on par, sort of a lite hefe. Not chewy enough. Thins out a bit in finish. Few tweaks and would be really nice session beer. As is probably a good crossover for newbies.
