22 ounce bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but was released to bottles recently. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, molasses, toffee, vanilla, toasted oats, dark bread, light nuttiness/coffee, light plum/fig, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, vanilla/cocoa nib spice, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, molasses, toffee, vanilla, toasted oats, dark bread, light nuttiness/coffee, light plum/fig, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, molasses, toffee, vanilla, toasted oats, dark bread, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, vanilla/cocoa nib spice, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with great balanced roasted bittersweet finish and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, and lightly bready/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an excellent oatmeal stout style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, vanilla/cocoa nib spice, and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering. gregwilsonstl (2504) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JUN 19, 2015
Dark brown. Nice really full and heavy body. Thin carbonation. Tasted at The Hideout. BOSSbrewer (2705) - Arkansas, USA - JUN 6, 2015
On tap at the source. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Had on Nitro and so was really creamy. Some roast. Slight vanilla and cocoa. Nice beer. Mr5o_clock (12) - - FEB 26, 2012
Color was nice dark cocoa, head was really thin and slick, okay aroma, barely an oat presence, week body with no lasting aftertaste. Just an okay stout. Tmoney99 (14492) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 28, 2009
Draft at HopCat.
Poured a dark brown color with an average creamy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate roasted sweet malt and coffee aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration.
Smooth brew, my expectations where met.

2008 MBG Winter Fest: Deep brown with a minimal head, oily appearance. The aroma displays oats, chocolate, charred and roasted malt, coffee, plum and anise esters. The taste starts with twangy fruit, mocha and vanilla with some grassy hops in support. Some peppery and liquorice spice upon the finish. The mouth feel is thin and oily, weak compared to the flavor. Just an okay beer, nothing to seek out. aarossell (151) - Grandville, Michigan, USA - JAN 15, 2007
Very nice, timid, oatmeal stout. Smooth, not remotely thick...but smooth. Easy flavor of subtle hops, chocolate malts. VERY similar to the porter, but could taste this one better....
