This beer has a big chocolate malty taste with a nice floral aroma. It also is very smooth and non filling. An Outstanding beer!

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2017 Shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. Pours black with a tan head. Nose of burnt malts and dark ripe fruits. Medium body. Flavor is the burned chocolate malts. dark fruit, coffee, and the bit of grape jelly Dave suggests. This is an odd and unusual flavor . Fruity and bitter finish. Some unusual flavors in this one but overall drinkable and flavorful.

Bomber from hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. Looks like an imperial stout. A smallish tan head. Aroma is fruity, lactic, and sweet. This flavor is that minus the lactic. Just a little syrupy chocolate and gentle roasted notes. This drinks very easily. Purple grapes as in Welches grape jelly makes me wonder about an infection and I became more convinced as I drank it. This is not offensive, just off and not at all what other raters described.

Pours a finger of head on a black body. The aroma is cocoa powder, wood and roasted malt. The taste has quite a bit of black licorice throughout, a bit of chocolate and coffee too. The texture is thicker. The licorice flavor overpowered the brew.

Roasted aroma. Black color with off-white head. Overly roasty-bitter flavors. These beers are pretty underwhelming.

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2015 "Aroma of malted chocolate hits you up front and center. Undertones of molasses, roasted coffee and a hint of hops. Flavor nearly exactly the same...maybe a touch of licorice in their as well. Body is not thin despite the relatively low abv for an impy. Decadent. Nice to see a local bottling something of this quality."

Bottle from Holiday Market in Cool, CA. Pours a black color with a tan head. Smells of roasted malt. Roasted malt flavor with hints of coffee and chocolate. Wish it had a little more body to it. Solid brew.

On tap at West Coast Brew Fest. Pours near black with a modest tan head and a citrus aroma. There is a rich treacle and anise flavor with a dry finish.

fezzy (105) - California, USA - DEC 26, 2013
Black and oily in appearance with a fine thin creamy head; nose has a bit of floral hop to go with the expected dark malt scent. Flavor has plenty chocolate and coffee in the roasty malt base, but nicely finishing with dry hopping for excellent drinkability.
