Bottle from K&L several years ago.
A: Mahogany body with a few bubbles hitting the sides of the glass. Firm creme colored head and a touch of lacing.
N: Bourbon, vanilla, caramel, toffee, some char, more woodiness. Leaves and earth. Some leather and red licorice.
T: Very, very bitter. Outlined by sweetness, but this does not strike me as "English-style".
M: Medium body, slightly sticky, hidden alcohol. Light, creamy level of carbonation.
O: Decent barleywine. Some good flavors harmed by an overabundance of hops. About a tie with Mother of All Storms, even if the latter is way too damn sweet and this one is more balanced. Dr_Fellini (1020) - Norfolk, Virginia, USA - OCT 29, 2014
Bottle to glass. Pours a murky nut brown color with a thin tan head. Aroma is big, boozy, malty. Flavor brings out much more of the bourbon barrel character, vanilla, oak, malts. Medium to heavy body with a lingering vanilla, bourbon. Delicious. Dogbrick (13777) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 8, 2014
This beer is a murky dark brownish-amber color with a medium creamy light beige head that recedes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of roast malt, fruit and oak. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, dark fruit, earthy hops and oak. The finish is mildly boozy with an oaky bourbon and malt aftertaste. Pretty good all around. 22oz bomber picked up at Perry’s in Livermore over a year ago. It pours with a dark mahogany body that supports a dark tan head of foam. The aroma is full up bourbon booze and vanilla as well as just a touch of spicy oak in the background. The taste has sweet malt soaked raisins and prunes and a bit of caramel. It quickly pulls up smooth sweet bourbon thinly ringed by vanilla and ends a little on the dry side. It seems boozy and bourbon-y but the more I drink the more I’m picking up the depth and rich beer notes. daknole (11402) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - APR 28, 2013
Deep brown color, rich tan head. Flavors are loaded with bourbon, vanilla, cocoa, sweet brown sugar, chocolate cookies. Good, very good.

Brown pour, off white head. Aroma is boozy and caramel with some toffee and vanilla added in the flavor. Damn good!

Bottle:   Super dark caramel, thin frothy tannish head, little lacing.   Malty nose, sweet, some toffee or caramel notes, slightly green.   Not as malty nor as sweet on the tongue.   Slight astringency, but not strong.   Feels like an English style Barley Wine, but one that isn’t too big or heavy.   Hard to believe this is 10.5% ABV.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   This one really needs to be thicker and heavier, and a bit more biscuit.   It finishes like a watery English style Barley Wine, some caramel/toffee like malt sweetness, little on the side of hop bitterness.   Hides its ABV well, but needs more body. mrmartin (786) - New York, New York, USA - FEB 15, 2013
Deep ruby pour with no head. Faint sweet nose. Sweet dark fruits, syrup Mellow finish. Slightly sticky and faintly boozy.
