UPDATED: MAY 21, 2013 Bomber from BevMo Salinas. Nose is toffee, brown sugar, and hints of roast, vanilla, and floral hops. Hazy brown with a medium, long lasting, lightly lacing tan head. Flavor is sweet golden raisin pie, hints of bitterness and vanilla, with a mixed sweet and bitter finish with a touch of bourbon. AgentSteve (1647) - SF Bay Area, California, USA - JAN 27, 2012
Proud to be the 1st rate on this. Pours deep brown with a tan ring for a head. Nose is subtle and smooth, with toffee, caramel, dried fruit and bourbon? Flavorful and sweet with the same influences as the nose, with the addition of hops and minus what seemed to be bourbon. Extremely full mouthfeel with a little bit of heat and a dry hop finish. Brown pour, off white head. Aroma is boozy and caramel with some toffee and vanilla added in the flavor. Damn good!

On draft at Tap 25. It pours brownish orange with a small off white head. The aroma has loads of caramel and toffee with a bit of hard cherry candy and maple syrup. Amazing. The flavor is sweet and alcoholic with toffee, caramel bitter pine and dark fruit. An awesome American/English barley wine hybrid. ngeunit1 (1555) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - MAY 1, 2012
A - Pours a dark brown color with a finger of frothy khaki colored head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some light lace.

S - Aroma is full of rich sweet caramel malts, with some brown sugar, vanilla, oak, dark fruit, licorice, and just a hint of booze.
T - Starts off with some rich sweet caramel malts with some dark fruit, brown sugar, vanilla, and a bit of black licorice. Through the middle, some oak comes through alongside some stronger dark fruits and a bit of molasses. The finish is a mix of sweet caramelized malts, vanilla, oak, brown sugar, dark fruit, and a bit of booze.
M - Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a syrupy, warming, and sweet finish.
D - Very drinkable. Really nice malty English barleywine. The sweet caramelized flavor balance really nicely with the barrel flavors.
22oz bottle purchased at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Vintage 2011. Barrel-aged. The aroma on this has a good deal of really nice bourbon-y notes to it. Light chocolate and some molasses are also present behind the bourbon character. Nice vanilla hints, too. Extremely quaffable. Scantly transparent mahogany body with a smallish off-white head and good oily, legging present. Starts with bourbon character, before there is some sweet caramel chewiness. Lightly buttery mouthfeel with perhaps some diacetyl in the middle. Becomes a bit roasted in the middle. Finishes with some nice tobacco and leathery flavors and has a small amount of ethanol. I really solid beer. My one complaint would be that this beer seems a little thin. Still, a hell of a beer. EastBayPints (23) - California, USA - MAR 19, 2012
Aroma: Smokey. Tobacco, rough leather. Fig and raisin. Stiff dark chocolate. rayOfBeer (680) - El Cerrito, California, USA - MAY 26, 2012
Appearance: Dark leathery brown. Complete opacity. Nice thin khaki head.
Taste: Malty, coffee. Licorice and anise. Banana bread. The alcohol is well concealed.
Palate: Stiff and chewy. Leather. Nice full flavored barleywine. Balance is nice. Not exceptionally sweet.
Overall: A great after dinner barleywine. Mature. This should age marvelously.
Bottle vintage 2011: brown pour with small off-white creamy head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, vanilla, some roasted grain and a light coconut note. Flavor is creamy caramel, vanilla, light touch of molasses, mild bourbon and oak notes, and a hint of toasted grain. Palate is silky and mostly sweet with a boozy prescence but not harsh. Ends with a touch of bitter to the sweet. Wow, nice beer, rather expensive at $14. A great sipper with lots of elements to take in, and, changes as the beer warms. I will buy more if the budget allows.
