65 cl bottle @ olio, no BBE found
Aroma has ripe fruits, American hops, woody notes and vanilla. Flavour has hops, gooseberry bushm fruits, resin and somewhat harsh malt. Barley wine in American way. This one has sometihng common with Cuvee de Tomme – but this is not that intensive. Good stuff anyway.

Deep ruby pour with no head. Faint sweet nose. Sweet dark fruits, syrup Mellow finish. Slightly sticky and faintly boozy. Easy drinking bw.

On tap at burger. in Santa Cruz. Pours opaque dark brown with crimson corners. Pruney iodine aroma with some evident booze, maybe a little raisin. Not the best aroma, nor is it very robust. Flavor is much better. Earthy chocolate with burnt brown sugar, a touch of soy, and a buttery toasted coconut finish. Not sure if this is bourbon barrel aged but it sure seems like it. A sweet warming beer that captures the English style pretty well.

Bottle. Dark brown beer with a tan head. Chocolate and toffee aroma with backing hops and light vanilla. Malt and toffee flavor with light darker malts and vanilla. Medium bodied. Toffee and vanilla lingers with light darker malts and light cookie notes.

marcus (10873) - Sacramento, California, USA - JUN 13, 2012
Bottle from Pangaea Bottle Shop, Sacramento. Pours dark brown with a modest tan head and a treacle aroma. There is a robust dark molasses flavor that leaves an alcoholic tingle on the tongue. There is a very bitter anise-like finish. A nice complex sipping beer.

brokensail (16689) - Dublin, California, USA - AUG 30, 2012
The pour is mahogany in color with a khaki head. Toffee and bready malts with a nice fruitiness. A touch of roasted malts, lots of toast, mild vanilla, and some floral hops. Caramel, cocoa powder, and toast are prominent on the palate. Some light vanilla, floral and pine hops with a light bitterness. Moderate sweetness of molasses and a hint of dark fruits. Good, but not as good as Old Inventory.

Bottle from K&L several years ago. A: Mahogany body with a few bubbles hitting the sides of the glass. Firm creme colored head and a touch of lacing. N: Bourbon, vanilla, caramel, toffee, some char, more woodiness. Leaves and earth. Some leather and red licorice. T: Very, very bitter. Outlined by sweetness, but this does not strike me as "English-style". M: Medium body, slightly sticky, hidden alcohol. Light, creamy level of carbonation. O: Decent barleywine. Some good flavors harmed by an overabundance of hops. About a tie with Mother of All Storms, even if the latter is way too damn sweet and this one is more balanced.

Bottled 0,66l (PBF, barrel aged and vintage 2011)
Deep ruby color, small beige head, Vanilla, toffee and bourbon in the nose. Medium-bodied. Lots of bourbon in the flavor, even pure, burning alcohol, vanilla. Way too alcoholic still although quite good.

omhper (25955) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - JUL 27, 2012
Bottled at PBF, thanks to baggio’s American friend whose name escapes at this time of the night. Hazy mahogany colour, small head. Bourbony caramel aroma. Sweet, full bodied, well rounded mouthfeel. Fudge wrapped in vanilla with heating bourbon and white pepper. Despite the sweet soft mouthfeel the heat of the bourbon takes over.
