3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sample at Ale Alpharetta. Pours dark orange, with a small, beige head. The aroma is butterscotch, oak, butter toffee, vanilla, and some grapefruit. Very sweet, with a good bitterness coming forward in the finish. Heavy body, thick, and a little clingy. Overall, this is a nice, malt-bomb of a barley wine. The hops balance it nicely, but are not prominent in the nose or flavor.
Small frothy white head. Fair lacing. Mostly diminishing. Clear thick ruby body. Aroma: port ruby, caramel, alcohol, moderate malt. Initial flavor: moderate sweet. Final flavor: moderate sweet light bitter (enough to balance); long duration. Palate: medium body, watery/oily texture, lively carbonation, metallic moderate alcoholic finish. Traditional BW, a little more alcoholic, Id say. Sweetness reminds of chocolate, dried fruits, malt and red fruits. Conceal the alcohol well. Hints of black tea. Gets hoppier with the increase of temperature. 130s gbp20.2 madchemist83 (272) - USA - JAN 15, 2016

"A medium bodied barleywine. Sweet leaning for sure, both in the nose and flavor. Some pleasant things going on fo sho. Caramel and Fruit. And oddly herbal hop profile takes away from it." yngwie (17038) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - AUG 16, 2014
Bottle. An unclear, glowing reddish dark amber colored beer topped by a dense, finger-thick light beige head. Rather sugary aroma with dried apricots, some alcohol, notes of resins and pine cones and a little caramel note. Dried fruits, caramel, resiny and piney hops and some caramel in the flavor. Full body and a pleasant carbonation level, a tad sweet on the palate. Lasting finish. Too sweet and a bit light perhaps, and lacking a bit on the complexity. 140816 Meilby (11366) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - AUG 16, 2014
