Found this in Tesco, a wonderful surpirse and a delightful beer. Great complex flavours. Well done to Tesco for stocking this.

Bottle 500ml. Great beer. Aromas of roast, chocolate, caramel, butter, and cola.Taste is sweet, with light bitter notes, and long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Dark brown, with a frothy head.

McWorta (1627) - LUXEMBOURG - SEP 14, 2012
Light pillow head, an aroma of roasted hops and grass, light herbish, pretty earthy and wooden aromas. Dar brown/black in colour light fizzy liquid with a tan fizzy head. Oily on lips, relatively sweet and a splash of bitterness. Full body slick and oily texture with a long solid finish. Best to be endulged near an open fire - convincing beer!

Bottle from Tesco. Rich fruity aroma, pours a deep dark reddish brown with creamy beige head and good lacing. Flavours of banana, honey, liquorice, rich chewy malt. Smooth, warming mouthfeel, long finish with spicy hop and roasted malt tang. Great beer.

Beer pours darker then any ale I have ever tried. There is very head, but relative to traditional English ale, it seemed normal to me. The flavor is wonderful and alive with many overtones such as chocolate and coffee. a hauntingly smooth finish leaves you wanting more. I was very plesantly surprised. This is an excellent beer.

nigos (631) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - JAN 3, 2007
Deep dark brown hue, almost black. Thin light brown head. Toffee, coffee nose with a large helping of coco. This follows through to the flavour, which is rich on the palate with a fairly long chocolatey after taste . A high standard of beer.

Bottled.Lovely inviting malty aroma upon opening that screams please drink me. This maltiness dominates although there are traces of chocolate.Quite complex with an aftertaste more subtle than you would expect.Winner of the TESCO winter beer challenge.Definitely a worthy winner.
