Fresh malty taste gives way to a long hoppy sensation and light fruity aftertaste.

Highgates Christmas offering: hand pulled pint in my local Wetherspoons on 19th Dec 2011. Lovely amber body with a good firm creamy coloured crown of foam on top. The smells were of malty molasses and caramel sweets, a bit to sweet for my liking. The taste was also too sweet, even for me: the blend of ingrediants being bland, boring and uninspired. Far to soft and smooth for a UK bitter, wintery or not: a failure in my eyes.

[Cask at Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading] Light amber-gold, small white head, slight fizz. Toffee with orangey hints and some spice at the back of the throat. Going in the right direction for Christmas, but needs to be darker, stronger, richer and with more - well, more everything really. In other words, its a bit bland.

Cask (handpump) @ The York, London, England.
Clear medium amber orange color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, apple. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat to soft. [20090102]

Cask at the Ribs of Beef, Norwich, "Post-Xmas Crawl Part 2", 28th Dec 08. Amber, line of head. Weak aroma and average flavour. I expected better from a winter seasonal. Bland & uninspired.

A Mes rate. Cask at the Ranelagh. Clean dark gold with a thin white head. Strong fruity malt aroma with plenty of berries and a hint of caramel. Similar flavour with a nutty note in the finish. Straight forward but reasonably tasty.

hughie (3996) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 8, 2007
Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Pale amber. Pear fruit aroma. Light, crisp fruity taste with some background malt. Gentle on the palate. Low bitterness. This is the first beer I have seen which incorporates flashing lights in the pumpclip, which also features a cartoon of a young lady dressed as Santa Claus wearing fishnet stockings. What will they think of next?
