Highland’s brews hold a special place for me and I’m always down for a new one and just the fact it’s called the devil’s britches, I had to try it. Tastes like a very hoppy amber with a funky aroma, but still is very drinkable. Not much of an IPA but more of a hopped up amber, but nonetheless a decent offering
Bottle about a year old that my father-in-law fetched from under the stairs; luckily their basement is a decent cellar temp. I was surprised how well this IPA stood up. Poured from a 12oz bottle into a a glass. Reddish orange in color. Small amount of cream colored head. Grapefruit and bread taste. Overall fairly good tasting IPA. Not too overwhelming on the hops though.

So, ok, from a bot this is a red IPA? OK so, again, let’s make a red IPA style? Fer sure the aroma is rich deep dull. White, red, black, what else? FO! This is simply a darker IPA and its not black, its just dark like a yingy. Yes, bitter and all that shit for an ipa and there you have it, another ubiquitous ipa brew. Lets all jump on the bandwagon, ips this and ipa that and ipa wtf. Go figger, its ipa barmy. And, guess what, it’s inspired by the devil himself, what evvvvvah. Pours dark orange/light amber with a medium khaki head that quickly dissipates leaving behind a small cap and a choppy ring. AROMA: malty, grapefruit, coriander, pine resin, herbal hops, molasses, phenols, spices, leaves, old flowers and rubber. TASTE: malty, coriander, phenols, molasses, pine resin oil, bitter, hop herbal spiced and slight peppercorn. AFTER TASTE: malty, herbal, hop spice and molasses with a creamy oily spiced finish.

A: Deep cloudy orange brown with a thick, slowly diminishing head of beige. and thick lace.
S: Raisiny smell is an immediate turnoff for me. Not an IPA scent
T: Bitter sharp hop taste first off. Earthy or floral? Roasty malts provide a good foil. No dark fruit taste (yay).
M: Smooth and creamy texture with medium body. Finish is slick and bitter.

Bottle Jay brought back from the Carolinas. Pours a dark copper color with a small off white head. Earthy, piney hop nose. Light caramel and bread notes in the flavor. Poured a murky amber orange color with aromas of light rye, caramel, malt and some pine. Flavors follow suit rye and light pine caramel as well. Meh...
